I had minimum expectations and was totally surprised. I was with a cycling group who all loved the pools which I could not use due to allergies. The room was nice; the bathroom on the small side. Actually the tiny side. It was extremely quiet; lots of places to sit outside with lovely trees.
The front office was more than accommodating when I locked myself out of the room. This is an old fashioned hotel which was a pleasure.

We stopped here on a bike tour of the local wineries with a group in early July. What a lovely place! A historic resort that claims to have been a favorite of Mark Twain and Jack London. And the pools really are wonderful.

The staff was very helpful and friendly on our arrival. They gave us a brief history of the resort and briefed us on all the 'health benefits' of the natural spring baths. The room was quite small but comfortable. My only comment was that the small window a/c didn't do much at all to cool the room.

The springs produce pure clean 90 degree water. There's several small concrete tubs that you lie in. The water flows in directly from the spring, and you immediately fill your skin tingling from all the bubbles from the natural carbonation in the water. It may or may not have all the health benefits that the staff describes, but it feels good anyway! There's also a jacuzzi pool and an Olympic sized swimming pool drawn from the spring water as well. The pool is especially amazing as there's no chlorine and is perfectly clear.

The grounds are especially lovely with many older trees that provide plenty of shade. Be sure to bring food for a picnic if you can.

Breakfast was lovely, an incredible buffet of fruit and pastries of various kind.

If you come, just remember that this is an historic resort so you will have to expect smaller rooms, no TV and such. We especially enjoyed the historic charm of this place. The continual (during the daytime) pop-pop-pop from the firing range down the street was a bit of an annoyance, but it was tolerable. We'd definitely come back here again.

I was so looking forward to enjoying the beautiful property, but there is a gun range just down the road and the sound of gunfire echoes through the canyon all day long. We heard it poolside, at the mineral baths, I. Our room, at the mediocre breakfast buffet, and during the hourlong hike to the waterfall. It was loud and just not something we could ignore. Sadly, it ruined the trip for us. I'm sorry to say this place just seems dated...and not in a charming way. Disappointing!

Beautiful and clean cottage with clearly lighted paths in the evening in order to take advantage of the mineral springs for late arrivals...we arrived late and the staff had our key and detailed map on services and location of our cottage ready!! This allowed us to take advantage of a late night detox mineral bath before bed. The grounds were very well kept...kudos to the staff!! Breakfast was full of a great selection of fruit and pastry !! I would stop here again if ever in the area.

If you want to get away to relax and unwind this is the spot! Come early to take advantage of the baths, pool and hiking. Check in is around 3pm. We stayed in a cottage which was secluded, quiet and had a nice porch for sitting and admiring the scenery, including deer! There were 4 deer grazing near our cottage one day - 2 does and 2 fawns. The cottage was spacious and included a full kitchen, but, in line with the relaxing theme, no TV and limited cell and wifi (there is wifi, but signal is weak, need to go to office area to get signal). I really welcomed the peace and quiet - it was the first time we unplugged in a long time. Overnight guests are treated to a wonderful breakfast buffet with lots of fruits, granola, pastries. The baths are really something special with healing properties, and open late til 10pm for guests. The 25M Olympic size pool is beautiful, but "solar heated" so temp was around 75 degrees, a bit cool, but refreshing on a sunny day. The hiking trails are well marked and easily accessible. A great way to relax and enjoy nature. Overall, a very relaxing weekend and I can't wait to come back!

I stayed for two nights, I just wish I arrived earlier on day 1, because there is quite a bit to see in the area, and the baths are just great dipping all day.

I read here that rooms are rather old and small, but where I stated, which was probably the cheapest room available, was actually quite adequate in size, lovely flowery interior, have showers inside, and very very comfortable. No complaints about the room whatsoever.

Outside, there is a big patch of lawn where it is just nice to walk around, some hiking trails, but most of all, the bath. I had it in the day under the sun, when it feels much warmer, and cozy, then the night time, although chilly, you may able to get a very very starry sky. In fact, I stayed in the bath for over 30 minutes to look at the constellations and shooting stars. It was well worth the 2 hour+ drive from San Francisco.

On the way back, I recommend Coppola winery. Great food and great atmosphere - of course the wine as well.

One more thing - breakfast was great. Loads of fruit and berries.
