“Good food, great service.”
Reviewed 17 February 2014 via mobile

This was our Valentine's dinner on a Sunday night. We had reservations for 7pm and were a few minutes late. The host was very accommodating. It seemed like all the tables were "good" and the staff was very attentive and willing to give advice and direction on house favorites, etc. We received our meals super quick even though the restaurant was 3/4 full when we arrived. The food was very good and average price for the type of establishment. Nothing over the top, but just GOOD FOOD. We spent almost 2 hours eating dinner/dessert, drinking our wine, and chatting. We never felt rushed to finish and leave, in fact it was quite the opposite. "Take your time, relax, enjoy yourself," was the message we got. We would definitely go back.

“Disappointing last visit”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

Disappointing last visit when my request to have the rice accompaniment with my salmon be replaced by additional vegetables was refused by the chef. I have had no problem doing this previously at the Blue Wing and all other local restaurants we visit, and wonder what the difficulty in this simple request could possibly have been. Also, the serving of vegetables which did accompany the meal was pitifully small, necessitating the additional purchase of a separate side of vegetables in order to make this a reasonably balance meal. If the chef is new, perhaps I can suggest a bit more effort to grant a simple request in order to please and retain the customer!

The wind list is excellent and contains local wines - Definatley worth trying. The Monday Piano Player was a nice addition.

“Culinary highlight of our weekend”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We went here on the recommendation of a mom who poured wine for us in the Moore family winery tasting room. She said the kids would like it. They did! The décor is definitely "saloon" but clean and tasteful. the bar dominates the space with sturdy, solid wood tables spread along the opposite wall. There is also a wrap around porch with tables for warmer weather dining. They exclusively serve wines from the Clear Lake region, so if you haven't had a chance to visit all the wineries you can have a glass with supper. The children's menu had 4-5 staples and all entrees included a drink, carrot sticks, and fries (perfectly seasoned). We adults started with the smoked salmon appetizer (very good but too small a plate) and the housemade flatbread (took a while but worth the wait: warm fresh bread loaded with goat cheese, figs, arugula, carmelized onions, and aged balsalmic vinegar). We couldn't decide which of our entrees were better: the rib eye steak with mushroom butter or the braised lamb shank that was so tender that it was falling off the bone. The chocolate almond flourless tart and raspberry sorbet were a perfect ending, we thought, but then the live music started! An excellent jazz pianist and a lovely Japanese jazz singer helped us waltz out the door very full and happy.

“Best food in Lake County”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

Great menu, even for vegetarians dining with carnivores! Reasonable local wine and beautiful restoration. But a bit drafty when temp outside was under 40 F.
