“Charming small town hotel”
Reviewed 7 June 2009

If you're looking for a quaint and charming hotel, the Valley Ford is it. It's small hotel (only 6 rooms) in a historic 1864 building. The rooms were spotless, and the simple yet rustic decor was exactly what we were looking for. There are no TV's, which is nice for a change, and the beds were VERY comfortable. Coffee was brought up to our rooms in the morning, and you feel right at home. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar downstairs called "Rocker Oysterfellers." It was closed on the days we were there, but the menu looks incredible. The hotel owner (who is also the chef) was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. It's only minutes from Osmosis Day Spa and Bodega Bay, and make sure to check out "Gabby Girl" across the street for cute gifts. I highly recommend this hotel!

Travelling up Highway 1 we saw the vacancy sign on the Valley Ford Hotel and boy were we in for a treat! We sat down to a 5 star meal of local foods, cheeses, wine, oysters, unbelievable. The experience was like being cooked for in your neighbor's kitchen... This is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life - and the staff/owners play the role of country inn/farm house oasis very very well. We rolled on upstairs to our quaint neat and clean room - like a guest room in someone's house - no phone - no TV - JUST what we needed. Loved the experience... The walls are a bit thin, but it lends to the authenticity of the country life we were craving. Nice large bathroom and shower stocked with a great EO choice in shampoo, conditioner and gel. Our new home away from home.

We actually stayed in the VF Hotel before it was officially open. My father was a resident of Valley Ford, and passsed away in May of 2005. We needed a place to stay and even though they weren't open for business Dave Allen (the owner) and his partners Carlos and Andrew opened their doors for us made us a lovely meal. We sat around chatting and listening to music all night. It was a wonderful night in the midst of such sorrow.

The room was cozy, clean and very welcoming, the food was amazing. I just loved the fact there were no phones and no TV's in the rooms. I hope it's still the same today.

Marvelous chef! Great hospitality!! Talented and friendly young couple run the place, and make frequent visits to neighboring wineries, keeping an excellent yet reasonalby priced wine selection. Creative, original edibles. Spa just down the road apeice is second to none. Lovely beaches & wine tours nearby. Looking forward to our next visit!

We arrived at the Valley Ford Hotel/Rocker Oysterfeller's late afternoon after a long car trip. The rooms are quaint, inviting and very clean. There are no telephones or televisions which suit us just fine. The bar scene was fun with lots of friendly locals with which to strike up conversations. Dinner was excellent with 'downhome' flavors and generous portions. We had a great night's sleep on really comfortable beds and linens. The traffic starts pretty early in the morning on Highway One, but all-in-all a pleasant experience.

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel--the location is prime for beachgoers and general outing to see historic and classical Sonoma seacoats. The only thing wrong was that the dining/kitchen area is below the rooms, expecially the room that I was in. I had to call the hotel desk area around11:30pm, to ask if
the noise could be toned down,as dinner was over at 9:00pm.
I couldn't foucs on anything--even reading a brochure of the surroundings to sleeping. I purposely picked this place because it has no phone or t.v. The noise was so bad that I had to operate the electric heater, turning it on when I didn't want to, just to drown out the noise from the downstairs. It's one of the most secluded and nice country setting places, but it was the noisest hotel I have evered enountered. Avoid Room #6, the one I was in , otherwise you will get people pounding pots and pans, blaring music, and you can hear every person's personal conversations--even those that offer people trying to hit on others. This was a Saturday night. I don't know how it is during the week, but good luck during the weekends.
Really disappointed.
