“relaxing elegance in a casual atmoshere”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

I have stayed at The Whitmore Inn many times over the years, coming back home to attend various events and visit with family. I found the casual atmosphere to be refreshing from the usual B and B "stuffy" kind of ambiance. I am able to walk every where I needed to go, and used the little daily shuttle bus to get to the other corners of town. I so appreciated Noell letting me prepare a family dinner for my loved ones using the beautiful dining room and accessible kitchen. I have enjoyed watching the process from old fixer upper Victorian to its gorgeous and well thought out beauty that it has become. There have been garden weddings, luncheons on the deck and family parties. come home to Weaverville, the Whitmore Inn is warm and waiting!

The room was nicely appointed and clean though the main street traffic noise is unfortunate. Route 299, Main Street, passes right in front of the B&B. Service is nil. We arrived and no one was around but the back door was propped open. We let ourselves in after awhile and found our room. Maybe Weaverville has no crime but having guests leave personnel articles in an open, unattended house is unusual to say the least. It was also odd that there was a half-eaten croissant on the sideboard when we went through the dining area... Someone who said she was the innkeeper's niece arrived later to swipe our credit card. The breakfast consisted of coffee, OJ, a little fruit (grocery store marginal produce) and cold Costco croissants and muffins. (We were actually told that the "pastries" were from Costco!) Given the price of the room, and that we were staying at a bed and breakfast, we expected a fresh, homemade breakfast. We were traveling by bike and needed a hearty breakfast, so we ended up purchasing breakfast elsewhere.

We had a lovely stay at this inn. Noelle, the innkeeper, is friendly and accommodating. The building is beautifully restored with Victorian charm but not too fussy. It is clean as can be. As always with older buildings the rooms have character. We stayed in the only ground floor room which is right off the dining room. It is a little less private but well worth it for us because it is ADA accessible.

For us the Main Street location was a plus. We did not find traffic noise a problem and we loved being close to museums and shops.

We did not try the breakfast as we prefer to provide our own food for dietary reasons. Noelle very kiny let us store food in the inn refrigerator and use the kitchen and dishes.

Next time we're in Weaverville we will stay here again !!

Gorgeous house; spacious rooms; great location right in downtown Weaverville. Innkeeper, Noelle, was extremely friendly and accommodating. Remember to call ahead as this is a small Inn and it is courteous to let them know when you are coming so they can be on hand. The room was beautiful; well appointed; and the bathroom was quaint. Great touches like Q-tips; real Kleenex; and a hairdryer. Right on the main street of Weaverville and within walking distance to every decent restaurant. Coffee and yummy muffins in the AM; apparently starting a full breakfast option soon. Pricing a little steep, but a nice change from a typical hotel/motel. Also have hot tub for guest use.

Room Tip: Rose Room has its own bathroom

We stayed here for one night during a tour of the western USA. We phoned in advance to make a reservation, and were told we would be staying in the Rose Room, and what the cost would be. It was the same price as we'd been paying for four/five star hotels, but for that, the owner said she would 'throw in' breakfast. We paid in advance over the phone and she asked us to phone again while we were en route to let her know exactly when we would be arriving. We did this and arrived on time about an hour later, only to find the house unoccupied and no-one around. We waited until the owner arrived and she took us inside and showed us a room behind a sliding door off the breakfast room, saying that as they were 'decorating the Rose Room' we would have to have this room instead. How come they were suddenly decorating the Rose Room? we wondered. Anyway, we took our things into the designated room, which although decorated in period as other people have described on here, I found frankly spooky.

The owner then told us she was going out, and seemed to think it strange that we asked for a key so that we could lock up the house while we went out for dinner. She told us to leave the house open and we must have looked a bit askance at that since she did in fact, find a key for us a few minutes later. (We were doing a big US tour and had lots of personal belongings with us, plus passports and other things that we needed to keep safe). . She asked us what time we would like breakfast and we suggested 9 a.m. as we had had a long day and would appreciate a lie-in. She must have gone out while we were unpacking as we didn't see her again.

At 7.30 am the next morning, we were woken by the sound of someone using the microwave. At 9 a.m. we slid back the door and looked at the 'breakfast' table. Unbelievable. There was a kettle on the sideboard, two cups, two teabags and a basket containing two rock-hard croissants (clearly that's what was being microwaved one and a half hours earlier). There was no coffee, no milk and certainly nothing that suggested 'breakfast.'

We drank our cup of weak, milkless tea (couldn't chew through the croissants) and packed up to leave. We spent about half an hour waiting for the owner who never showed up, so we left her a note on the kitchen counter thanking her (!) and went into Weaverville to find a proper breakfast.

I know this review isn't singing from the same songsheet as most of the others (except the guy who complained (rightly) about breakfast) - but this describes exactly what we experienced. I thought it was just plain weird, and I thought the price was extortionate for the lack of service and interest shown by the host. Compared to everywhere else we stayed in the US this place was just poor. We won't be going back.

We stayed two nights at The Whitmore Inn in Weaverville, CA in July and couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations and the hospitality that was provided by Noelle.

We stayed in the 'Rose Room' (#2) and it was so comfortable, clean and welcoming. The bed has crisp linens with lots of pillows and the decor is soothing and not overdone. The bathroom is large with roomy shower and plenty of hot water.

To further your enjoyment, there is an outdoor hot tub (we took advantage of that during our stay and it was delightful). And, a fresh prepared breakfast is included every morning. During our stay it was a slightly sweet granola, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruits, coffee and tea and milk.

The inn is in a great location. It is located a few blocks' walk to the small, quaint 'downtown' area where there are some shops and restaurants to check out.

I can definitely see myself making a return visit to The Whitmore Inn to sample more of their spectacular hospitality and the charming inn itself.

This is a great find in Weaverville. It's located on the main street but was quiet and comfortable. We were traveling with two 11 year olds and Noelle did everything to accommodate us. The beds were luxurious along with the attention Noelle gives to everything in the house. We had a great time. Walking distance to everything in town.

Room Tip: Private bathrooms in two rooms and a shared bathroom for the other two rooms. As our friends were in...
