We stopped here for lunch because it had outdoor seating, but there was too long of a wait so we ate inside. It's an old house converted into a seating area with the kitchen in view of our table. The waitress was very friendly and apologized for the flies which were there because people don't know how to close a door behind them. In fact, several times we ourselves asked patrons to close the door when they came in! The lemonade was very, very weak. I had the Rueben sandwich which was really delicious. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and was happy with it. They do not make fries because of codes. There are a small amount of tables because the sitting area used to be a living room at one time. There is outside seating if you can wait for it. Overall, happy with the food and service.

Lovely atmosphere, limited but great menu, delicious food. Good service. Small place, not a lot of tables inside, but a really pretty patio out front. Going to The Garden Cafe has always been a special treat. Breakfasts are "The Bomb", here, too, if you want something a bit more elegant than the usual fare.

Stopped for breakfast on our way to coast. A friendly passer by had recommended the garden cafe, so we thought we'd give it a try. Cute outdoor seating area, though we opted for indoors. Finally was seated, though it wasn't busy-just one other table of folks already eating. Ordered our coffee and I requested the special of "crab and avocado omelette", while my husband ordered biscuits and gravy. (he NEVER gets it-but we're on vacation). Good thing we weren't in a hurry! It took over half an hour, and we were plagued by a pesky fly all the while. Mind you, it wasn't busy at all, and the chef was so impressed with himself that he made cinnamon rolls that morning, he kept leaving his cooking to chat with the waitress about how to serve them and what to charge. We could see into the kitchen from our vantage point, and he must've burnt three rounds of sourdough toast before he finally sent our order out. I really couldn't believe that he actually sent my plate with this beautiful, fluffy, perfect omelette along with totally burnt, almost petrified potatoes! My husband's biscuit and gravy weren't over cooked, but the biscuit tasted like sawdust and the gravy was tasteless. About halfway through our meal, another gal showed up for her shift, wearing black top and pants with what looked like cat hair all over them. The cook's apron was filthy as well. I worked in a bakery/deli for a few years-for goodness sake, if you get your apron full of frosting, grease, whatever, change it! WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!!!!!!!

Best breakfast on a two-week journey from Seattle to San Francisco, sitting on the terrace on a sunny September morning. By far the best value, too; $16 for two. Perfect.
