“A Bit of a Disappointment”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

After experiencing exceptionally fabulous meals at Gordon Ramsay's Maze in London, England and at his Steak in Las Vegas, Nevada, we were excited to try his restaurant at the London in West Hollywood, CA. Had dinner there to celebrate a birthday which the restaurant had been advised of when our dinner reservation was made.
It is a much smaller restaurant than the other 2 restaurants we have been to. The service was okay, but nothing to brag about. The attentiveness of the staff was lacking compared to the other 2 restaurants. Possibly because it was a much smaller restaurant with a smaller staff.
We ordered Beef Wellington which we were advised would be cooked medium rare. It was actually cooked rare to almost uncooked in the center. The pastry around the beef was essentially devoid of any filling. The chef certainly did not follow Gordon Ramsey's recipe which you can see on YouTube.
The meat was not seared; there were no mushrooms and chestnut pate wrapped around the beef.
Although we were there to celebrate a birthday, the restaurant did nothing to acknowledge the celebration. When we asked about that, we were told that if we ordered dessert, they would do something. That's pretty rude for any restaurant.
If we had gone to this Gordon Ramsey restaurant before Maze or Steak, we would not go to any other Gordon Ramsey restaurants.

“Nice, but could do just as well myself”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

I decided to treat myself (or so I thought) to one of Gordon Ramsays restaurants and it was a ho hum experience, disappointing really. The restaurant itself was beautiful but that's where the story ended. Staff were nice, friendly enough but the food was just average. I am a keen home cook and I have prepared and served just as good if not better at home. The scallops were sweet and cooked well, end of story

“Nice Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

If you're looking for a hidden place to enjoy your company & food, this is a GREAT place. The staff is a little up tight with a pinch of RUDENESS. But besides the staff, the decor & food are wonderful, just leave your cell in the car & enjoy the experience.
