We keep forgetting that The Pacific Design is closed on Sundays.
The last 2 times we dropped by, we weren't able to check out the galleries inside.
But nevertheless, it was still worth the trip to just marvel at that riot of colors outside.

The palm trees are firmly established by now. They are so robust and healthy. They look good with the Agaves. The flowers are just bursting happily out of its bed. The fountains are delightful in the summer heat.

We especially like to check out the video installations at Young Projects on the second floor. They have two galleries and the shows change every month or so.

I'm having to go to the design center a lot as I'm furnishing a new home. I think this place has some weird vibe since none of the shops have many windows. It makes most of the people who work there very grumpy and angry. And, if you are not a designer, get ready to be abused. They really don't like anyone who is not a designer...and they are not even very nice to designers. Maybe they should think about who really pays their bills. I would like to say that there are a few wonderful exceptions to the grumpy comment - Jen at A. Rudin, Mark at Paul Ferrante and Lars at Atilier Rugs, sutherland guys are all great.

Interesting concept, but no. Unfortunately, I have been to this building more times than I can count, using the vendors that do business here. It used to be a fun place to go, with both the blue and green buildings full of design trade-types, but now it is empty. There are no good restaurants to speak of, except Red 7 which is towards the back of the property and hidden off the main walkway. The only other food outlet is a small kiosk in the front that serves some sandwiches, cookies, and drinks. It is mainly a building for the wholesale design trade, and definitely interesting, but as a destination point, I'd say it is a waste of time.

quite funny, these 3 buildings in red, green and blue... just did the blue one, I guess... first floor, yummy .. .only art galleries with contemporary art... very enjoyable... one level higher, the best you may find in US furniture and interior desing. All very contemporary and stilish... even the carpets are tremendously beautiful... the last 3 levels are filled with this heavy provincial "bourgeois" taste.... nothing for people who are in the 21st century now... but everything for those who are still stuck in serials with Joan Collins & Co....
