“Perfect for a night out with the girls”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Public Kitchen and Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel was a great spot for a girls night out. Fabulous cocktails, delicious and creative food options and warm, welcoming service. Our reservation was on the early side and it started out quiet, but the vibe got better and better as the night wore on.

“A Nice Slice of "Old Hollywood"”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Recently transplanted New Yorkers, we were looking for a bar to hang out in, become regulars in... I had been to the Roosevelt years ago and we gave it a try - now it's our Go To place! The bartenders are all friendly and talkative and the food is excellent. The Chicharones (think fried thick bacon) is amazing and a perfect appetizer. (Maybe with a Crestor chaser.) Their fish dishes are fresh and the chicken is excellent as well. A friend just tried their hangar steak and scarfed it down - a thumbs up. It can get crowded, but that's due to the great service, food and drinks. You can also sit at tables. Only nitpick is why charge extra for the Parker House rolls? They are delish to be sure, but should be free with a meal.

“Hidden secret!!”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

I was on an architectural tour of Los Angeles and we spent several hours on Hollywood Boulevard. We had a tour of the TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman's) and it was mentioned that we should pay a visit to the Roosevelt Hotel across the street, since so many movie stars had lived there, most notably Marilyn Monroe. While at the Roosevelt, we stopped to look at the Public Kitchen and Bar. It was beautifully decorated with rich woods and most welcoming. We returned to Hollywood Boulevard and when it was time for lunch, we broke up into several small groups. Our group went to the recommended restaurants and after looking at two of them, both dark and unappealing, we headed back to the Public Kitchen and Bar, probably the best decision we made during the trip!! Our server was most attentive and the food was outstanding. One of the ladies was enthralled with the drink of the day that was written up on the blackboard when we stopped there the first time - Strawberry Fields. She ordered it and was most pleased with the uniqueness of the ingredients - strawberries, ginger beer and some other alcohols, the names of which escape me. I had the soup of the day which was kale and chorizo - sounded so good and it was, and I am not usually a fan of soup. I also had the flatbread which was tasty and enough for my two companions to enjoy as well. They ordered the stuffed avocado salad and the chopped kale salad - both of which were delicious. They have a list of sinful desserts, one in particular sounded like a chocoholic's delight, but we were heading to Farmer's Market and wanted to save room for dinner. In retrospect, I should have ordered it!!
