The fourth restaurant in this growing chain just opened in the Target shopping center at the corner of Santa Monica and La Brea. I was worried about the location, but I needn't have been - there has been a line out the door since the day it opened. And why not - the place has great food! The sandwiches are inventive and tasty and there are plenty of choices to please both carnivores and vegetarians. The sandwich menu basically stays the same, with several seasonal additions, but the soups and salads change daily - so check out their website or Facebook page to see the daily specials.
A helpful tip - Parking is in Target's garage, which you enter either from Formosa or from Romaine. If you park in the northwest corner of the garage (near Bev Mo) there is a stairway that leads you right up to Mendocino Farm's patio. You can also take one of the escalators or elevators up, but they will deposit you on the La Brea side and you will have to walk along Santa Monica to get to the restaurant.
