After reading excellent reviews since booking this hotel last Sept I was really looking forward to our 6 night stay but was sadly disappointed with the hotel.
On a positive note - the rooms are very clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable beds. Now for the negatives:
I sent several emails in April which were not responded to, when I met the staff I realised why - they are the most unfriendly people I have encountered in the American hotel industry and most of the time they hid away in the office behind reception. The male staff member who checked us in (on Sun 25th May) was the most miserable person I have encountered and when we had problems with the vending machines he wasn't interested at all.
In fact the vending machines didn't work at all during our stay.

Breakfast - this is not complimentary we do pay for it in our room rate (even though the hotel likes to say it is) nothing is ever free!! the actual breakfast was fine and always fresh but the awful plastic plates/cutlery and paper cups (which the hotel said some 9 months ago in a previous review were a temporary measure) - are still in existence and make the dining experience somewhat tacky.

Noise - the walls are paper thin and we could hear nearby TV's and air con units droning all night - then we had to contend with 6am pool parties and couples arguing during the night, I know we are in a hotel and expect noise but felt that this was excessive - we had just spent 4 nghts in Vegas and San Francisco and this was the first hotel we had any noise in.

Nobody seems to mention the tramps/hobos/panhandlers (dont know the correct term for them ) either - despite the hotel being 3 blocks from Sunset Plaza and next to the salubrious Sunset Towers the area just outside is plagued with these people there is one resident on the bench opposite the hotel and several wandering up and down outside trying to collect money off you - my son was quite scared of one who seems to spend most of the day crossing the lights outside the hotel as he was quite aggressive. In San Francisco - supposedly the worst place in America for this yet durin our 4 days there we only actually encoutered one person who could be described in this manner.

My husband and I stayed here our second night in LA. Check in was very quick and we got a room on the 2nd floor. It was very nice and the bed was comfortable. You have to stay at this hotel just for the pool area. It was absolutely gorgeous. The breakfast the hotel provided was sufficient - your typical continental breakfast. We would stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights. We found this hotel to be in a good location and the room to be of good size and very comfortable. We had a room beside the pool which was lovely. The only thing which we found a big let down was the receptionist staff, when we arrived until we left, we were not once made feel welcome by them, asking advice felt like we were putting them out having to answer us. We found the maids friendly and helpful.
There is a lovely restaurant called the Saddle Ranch across the street which is a great place to eat with a great atmosphere and very friendly staff, we would recommend going there.
This is a nice hotel with complimentary continental breakfast and a computer with complimentary internet access which were bonuses, if I were returning to LA I would consider staying here as it is a clean comfortable hotel in a good location.

Stayed in March with my wife and 8 year old son.
Was a very good experience. Had a European feel to it.
We were upgraded to a poolside suite.
Was some noise from others using the pool areas at night, but it is a hotel not a private home.
Beds were very comfotable.
Breakfast had lots of choice but was nothing special.
Parking was never a problem.
We go to LA about once a year, this was the first time to stay in a hotel, but given the other choices in West LA area I think we will be back for sure.

From the moment we arrived at this hotel we were impressed. Arriving on an international flight early morning we weren't expecting an early check in rather just to dump our bags for a few hours, but not only did the staff willingly allow us an early check in they also insisted we have a complimentary breakfast which was fantastic. The 4 nights we spent at this hotel was most comfortable and the location was perfect, great restaurants nearby, the double decker hop-on-hop-off bus stop directly across the road. The staff were willing to give us advice on tourist activities etc. We couldn't be happier with this hotel and for the price we were very satisfied.

We just spent three nights here and loved it. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the pool area, with all the flowers is amazing. You can't beat the location in West Hollywood. The airport is about a 35 minute drive....Beverly Center or Melrose for shopping 5 minute drive. Beverly Hills..5 - 10 minutes down Sunset. The staff were great...we wanted to see the Hollywood sign and we were told to drive to the Observatory (about 20 minutes) and we got great pictures. Loved it!

Oh my goodness, the Best Western Sunset Plaza had one of the most comfortable beds ever! This was a nice, clean and comfortable hotel. I was worried about the parking at first when I saw that the lots weren't that big, but we never had a problem finding a space no matter what time it was. This hotel had a pretty decent exercise room. My only complaint was that there was no air! We left the door to the exercise room open as well as the door to the balcony open in order to feel some type of breeze. We didn't experience any problems with noise. Our room was facing the House of Blues. I would definitely stay here again.
