I typically find the quality of the Hyatt hotels to be on average pretty low in the US as compared to Asia. If you have been to the Grand Hyatt in Tokyo dont imagine the San Francisco Grand Hyatt is even closely similar in quality.

If you want to stick with hyatt then Andaz and park hyatt are certainly a fair level above. As usual quite trendy (without being cutting edge), nice crowd (without being amazing) but very good rooms and good value for money.

I am returning in October.

When you first arrive you are greeted by a person holding a tablet to check you in. There is no reception desk and your basically standing in the middle of the foyer checking in. When you go up to your room you are greeted by a a fairly drab toned room, however it was comfortable and the complimentary drinks and snacks are a nice touch. If you are looking for information on things to do in the area then you need to go somewhere else to obtain info as the reading material in the rooms is basically non existant, unless my room was simply missing them on that day. The pool area on the roof is quite small, and unless you have a tan, and a 6 pack then you wont feel comfortable up there. The view however is quite good and worth the look. The location of the Andaz isnt to bad, however it is a long walk to the Walk of Fame and so on. Overall you just get the feeling that the Andaz is trying to be to trendy which can be frustrating at times. It is quite pricey for what it is.

i just arrived back home to the UK. and i like to say that the Andaz was bloody excellent value for money i only stayed 3 nights as i arrived from hawaii on the sunday evening 26th august 2012. the room was clean the bed was well i was out like a light hit the pillow and bam gone. the minibar was free apart from the Alcohol oh and free snacks too. also the room service was excellent as well. placed an order and with in 20 minutes it was at your door. and free wifi for the guests too.

other plus points was that it was in a nice area of sunset blvd not to far to walk to sunset plaza and some nice restaurants. the viper room once owned by jonny depp, whiskey a go go the laughter room. the staff at the andaz need a pay rise because they work to hard and they make guests feel at home.

Room Tip: doesn't matter what room you choose your out like a light. value for money its what its all abou...

The experience is "different"..... unconventional business hotel, close to all the action happening in Hollywood.....but a liitle away to give the "not-so-busy" feeling.....
Beautifully designed and clean rooms, and public areas..... a boutique hotel that you will certain enjoy staying at..... the friendly staff and the sumptous breakfast spread will give you more reasons to stay longer.....
I visited it for 2 nights over a year back but still remember the stay ......

This was our second time at the Andaz. We'd stayed here a few years ago and been treated horribly. (My wife was told she couldn't get herself coffee, couldn't eat the free pastries, and told the "free" computers in the lobby were all in use, in spite of there being nobody else using them.) But since the location is central, we decided to give them another chance.

We were given an ADA room on the 6th floor facing a parking lot. For $337/night. We asked if we could be given a non-ADA room (which has more space in the bedroom area) but we were told categorically that no such rooms existed.

When we reached our room and saw how bad the view was, we called to ask to be moved. We spoke to a different member of staff who was able to move us to the 8th floor, still facing the parking lot, with a promise of a 12th floor room the following day. (The 8th floor room, incidentally, was not an ADA room, thus first front desk staff had lied to us rather brazenly.)

The next day, we left in the morning after calling to confirm the move to the 12th floor room. When we returned to the hotel at 4pm, none of the staff had any knowledge of the request, had not reserved a room on the 12th floor, had not moved our bags (we had told them they were packed and ready to go in the morning.)

The front desk attendant then checked us out of our old room and into the new. When I asked when our bags would be moved, he said, "You need us to move the bags!?". I told him it was clearly required since he had JUST checked us out of our old room, where our bags were, and thus we couldn't get in, his response was to try to create a new door key for the old room so we could move the bags. When the hotel system refused to create the key, he huffily announced that he would have to go with us.

Upon arriving at our old room, having called no bellhop to come with us, he made no effort to help us with our bags. We hauled them all, ourselves, up to our new room. (Also, the room had not been made up; had we been required to stay there, we'd have had a uncleaned room to contend with.)

Throughout our stay, I noticed a number of other guests who were having a similarly miserable time arguing with the staff at the front desk.

For context, my wife and I have taken extensive road trips in every country in western Europe as well as in the west & east coast of the US. $350/night is an average nightly rate for us. We've stayed in some of the best hotels in the world. The Andaz isn't one of them.

Room Tip: If you get a room facing the hills, make sure to get one above the 8th floor, or you'll have a l...

We started off with a 'hill view' room. However the air conditioner was not working, once we informed reception they upgraded us to 'city view' and much larger room, without hesitation.
Service by all staff was great. Facilities in the Andaz were excellent. Great spot in West Hollywood, within walking distance of some really nice restaurants in Sunset Plaza.
We also returned to Andaz 2 weeks after staying there the first time, and a lot of the staff remembered my families first names.
Great place to stay.

Room Tip: Definately worth asking for a City View room, the veiw of LA is amazing.

My wife and two kids aged 12 & 16 stayed at this hotel in August this year. Wow, from the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. None of our requests were too much. the staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. The quality of the accommodation and facilities was also outstanding. Fine restaurants were only a short walk away and all of the famous sites were only a short drive away. Loved every moment of our stay here. A very well run establishment.
