My wife and I stayed at the Sunset Marquis for 5 days in July and loved the hotel, the staff and the location. Hernan and Logan made our stay even more memorable by their local knowledge and although they were busy always found time for a smile and a chat,
The hotel has an amazing rock n roll history and we saw a few big stars during our stay, there's a recording studio, a restaurant, valet parking and a nightclub on site as well as wonderfully private bungalows and villas set out on a few acres of beautiful gardens. The Marquis is just off Sunset Blvd, walking distance to all the West Hollywood night clubs and Sunset Plaza as well. I'll be heading back ASAP to this fabulous hotel!

I stayed here a few years ago and it was a great experience. It's a great hotel for star gazing. While we were there for only one night we saw Aerosmith (the whole band), Whoopi Goldberg, and Lady Gaga. The service was excellent. We were hanging out in the hotel lobby and the manager actually took the time to chat with us. We spent 30 minutes shooting the breeze and Aerosmith was literally sitting 10 feet away from us. The manager did not spend his efforts only on the stars. He treated us the exact same as he did the band. Really made us feel just as special as the band and did not treat us as though we were in any way less important than the band. The hotel is right in the middle of Hollywood yet very quiet and serene. It was a very relaxing stay and I will most definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa. They are not too expensive and that's where the stars stay. The stars go ther...

We've stayed here 3 years in a row. We love the location, the retro vibe, the pool side service, and the staff.

Get a ground level suite to have your own lounge area.

Only downside is no bath or hot tub and expensive food. Head up to sunset blvd go left and find a nice breakfast joint on left side of the street with outdoor seating. One mile farther down is the best Thai Food in LA- Night+Market- get the crab fried rice!

We stayed here for a week in July as a pit stop for our Hawaii trip. We wanted somewhere relaxed, well located for bars and resturaunts and away from the tourists. Sunset Marquis delivered on all fronts.

The hotel staff are friendly and the rooms are modern and clean (we stayed in a 1 bed suite). I can honestly say that the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever been in. My wife says it is like sleeping on a cloud and compares all the beds we stay in to her now second favourite at the Mayfair in London. We only had room service once but the burger was awesome.

I can only recommend to the hotel, as has been said before on here, free wifi should be included for the price tag. Other than that, no complaints and we will return one day.

When staying in the area places to eat are, Fig & Olive, Joan's on 3rd, Crossroads, Boa, Nobu.
We enjoyed having evening drinks at Everleigh about a 5 minute walk away. Awesome bar.
We also spent the day in Malibu wine tasting and will be reviewing all of these places also.

West Hollywood is definitely the place to stay if you want to spot the odd celebrity. We saw Jerry Ferrara ( Turtle from entourage), Jesse Metcalf ( Desperate Housewives), Matt Smith (Dr Who) just going about their everyday buisness.

Loved the Sunset Marquis - we were only here for one night however will never forget how amazing this place is . The room was immaculate with great view of pool and the Sunset Marquis sign from our balcony. Logan was an absolute legend giving us the tour of the place. The gardens and rock memorabilia outstanding and to top of the stay a totally thoughtful birthday gift from the hotel - and then bumping into genuine hollywood royalty at the hotel entrance :)..LOVED IT

The 'Sunset to Sunrise' offer was great! The package came with breakfast, 2 welcome drinks, comedy club tickets, VIP entrance into Hollywood hot spots, Equinox passes and a big 1 bedroom suite. The vibe is old classy Hollywood with modern updates to the hotel and tons of trees and greenery. Great location, close close to Sunset/La Cienaga, but without the traffic and noise. The Hotel set up great live music by the pool in the evening. It was a quick weekend for my wife and I, but we did as much as we could do in 24 hrs. We definitely need to go back. Food and service was excellent!

Room Tip: Get a room by the pool. Easy access and you have your own lounge chairs if the pool is packed.

Pros:
Large bathroom with a range of toiletries, large room (approximately 12 x 24 ft. ) Double bed, and table with two chairs. Large wardrobe. Safe, stocked minibar, and separate refrigerator.

Helpful staff on reception.

Cons:
Location - West Hollywood. The area is a bit rundown in places and in the middle of a suburban sprawl. Nothing else here, so I don't understand why it's so popular. Never seen so many dogs being taken for a walk and evidence of where they have been!

Air conditioning - full on or nothing. No fan control, so fan operates at maximum speed all the time. The non-adjustable air vents mean that icy cold air is blasted at you on the bed, every time the aircon switches on.

Coffee-making facilities - none in the room. Very unusual these days.

Internet - wifi and wired available at 11.95 USD per 24 hour period per device. Again, very unusual to charge for this now.

Iron - cracked across the bottom and could be a safety hazard?

Would not return here again or recommend to anyone.
