Recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Windsor. I have friends who live close by and we stayed 1 night there. We got their early and they checked us right in. Good service! The rooms were nice, comfortable and clean! Breakfast was good and the cinnamon rolls to die for. I will definitely be back.

Driving north from San Francisco we usually focus on the known cities to stay, ie, Santa Rosa, Calistoga, Healdsburg, Yountville, etc.. Stopped this trip in Windsor and what a pleasant surprise. The Holiday Inn Express located near the freeway, new, friendly, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable about the local area. Within a few blocks walking distance were several excellent restaurants all in a relatively new constructed commercial zone which was quiet, safe, and inviting. Can not recommend this location and hotel highly enough.

We arrived at the Holiday Inn Express Windsor on Halloween. The staff was dressed in costumes and preparing for a guest reception with wine and snacks. "Rowdy" the professional wrestler (AKA: Franco) provided great hospitality when not acting his costumed role LOL! We found that the staff created guest recpetions each evening we were there. Fantastic way to end a day of vineyard visits and wine tastings.

The hotel has special parking for IHG Reward members and seemd to treat us especially nice.

There is an in-door jacuzzi and sauna, as well as outdoor pool, which we unfortunately had no time to use. We had a corner suite but that only added a sitting area to an otherwise nicely sized hotel room. The bed was comfortable and not soft. There was a refrigerator and microwave and small drip coffee machine. There is an elevator, but the hotel is only three stores and the walk up was not bad.

The morning hot breakfast is above average for Holiday Inn Express and staff was very friendly and accomodating to our request. The coffee was marginal but a Peets was within walking distance in the Windsor town mall.

Also, there are a half dozen restaurant choices within walking distance. We ate at Kins (as in kin folk) the first night and Lupe's the second night. Both spots were hopping with a lively group of diners.

There is a Safeway in the same town mall as Peets and it has a good selection of local wines. My favorite was the Bear Boat Pinot Noir from northern Sonoma County. My wife liked the unoaked Kendall Jackson Avantt Chardonnay.

I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

Thank you for a wonderful anniversary weekend!

Room Tip: Get a room at the back for quiet sleep.

We stayed here recently while on wane tasting trip with friends. The hotels is clean, reasonable and friendly. Slightly better than average HIE breakfast, easy parking and walkable to the little town of Windsor - which has a few cafes and coffee places. What was fun about this hotel is they seemed to have a wine tasting by one of the area vineyards every night and also had a nice spread of cheese and fruit for all guests. If you are looking for a safe, clean entry level convenient property in wine country this is a good choice.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is very close to highway 101. We were concerned about potential noise so requested a room facing away from the highway, overlooking the pool instead. Our room was clean, quiet and the king bed comfortable. The breakfast was typical HI Express. We found the location to be excellent for exploring wine country in every direction. Restaurants in the nearby town square were handy and the food quite good. By avoiding the weekend, hotel rates here were quite reasonable. Service at the front desk was very professional, friendly and helpful.
