Owner description: A laid back family owned winery in Yountville. The way Napa Valley used to be 30 years ago... No pretense, no gift shop, just good wines...

What a delightful experience. After all the fancy wineries, sheet one felt rushed most of the time...these two guys took their time and expertise to give us a full educational wine experience. Loved the beautiful surroundings, the vastness of the colored vines...This was my second visit and won't be my last.

“Visit Hopper Creek and Early On!”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We visited Hopper Creek with Platypus Wine Tours, which was great because it was not on our radar and that is exactly why you want a local showing you around. We were lucky enough to show up during season with a row of berries to be crushed so that was a fun "Napa tourist" experience. But what I LOVED about this tour was Darren. He is the perfect blend of knowledge and laidback humor. He taught us a ton about Napa Valley, including geographically the impact of its location vs Sonoma and other wine countries. He taught us how to taste the wine, to look for colors and aromas and how to experience and explain each glass. He also knows food (I always like to learn about pairing) so that was a nice addition. He showed us to affect the wine flavor with food and chocolate and understand what wines are to be enjoyed as cocktails vs. meal wines. Because it was on our tour, we had a picnic lunch on the back patio which was beautiful with the vineyards surrounding us. I recommend stopping by Hopper Creek early on because you learn so much that you can bring to other wineries and tastings. Very highly recommend!

“Great time had by all!”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

16 of us from Ohio here for the CAL Ohio State football game spent three days in Napa Valley. I'm local so found places our group would find unique, different and of corse, great wine. Our entire group loved this place. We already had stopped at four places via Napa Valley Tours and Transportation (awesome service), and I almost cancelled here. Glad I didn't because it was a hoot and very very informational! Thanks for a great time!!!

“I love this vineyard”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

This vineyard is an experience. You can go to all of the big, known, pretentious vineyards all day in Napa, but this vineyard is laid back and fun. Yes, our guide was smoking and drinking tall boys but that is what makes this vineyard. He doesn't care. He is there to let you taste wine and have a good time. The grounds around the vineyard are beautiful. Great patio and table to sit at on the back. He lets you revisit any and all wines you tasted if you like. There are no rules here and I love that. The only word to describe this place is cool. Highly recommend.
