Cycled down form Aspen and stopped (again) at this great little spot. Situated on main route for cyclists so easy to park the bike and settle down for fluid and light food before the cycle back up the valley.
Good outdoor seating and friendly service. Lots of glasses of water and lemonade dealt with the thirst and a good menu to share. Elected this time just to have the home made chicken soup with warm bread. Decided against a main course but sneaked in a chocolate sundae which was a sensible portion to share and provided enough energy to make it back to Aspen.
Would like to find an excuse to stop over and have a full lunch or dinner. Good menu form which to choose. Will be back.

Just in to Basalt for the night, we chose Cuvee for the extensive wine list, and ended up finding very good menu offerings as well. We split the tenderloin and halibut entrees - both cooked appropriately with delicious sides. The wine pairings were also good, although the first glass of Justin cabernet tasted like it had spent too long in the bottle since opening compared to the second.
We sat out on the sidewalk patio and enjoyed the cool evening, but the indoor tables looked inviting as well. Overall we were satisfied with the experience - it wasn't out of the park fabulous, but a very solid, no surprises/no disappointments meal.

If you've visited Cuvee before, try them again. They have finally changed their menu and now have more vegetarian and pescatarian "real meal" selections (if I can ever stop ordering their wonderful queso fundido). Also - dinner items are also available for lunch. Their wines are terrific (although the pours tend to be light). Service can sometimes be problematic.

Cuvee has some nice outdoor seating (although it would be great if the Town of Basalt could close the street they are on to traffic, or at least stop the heavy truck traffic) and the bar area is more than adequate for a meal.

Service was a little slow especially for the number of guests they had. I ordered the gnocchi and was very disappointed. It had about 3 times the amount of vegetables as gnocchi and you had to search to find them. My husband had the steak and that was good. We also ordered the queso fundito and it really didn't make a lot of sense. It was not melted enough to dip or spread on the flour tortillas.

For many people, Basalt, Colorado is just a place you pass through on the way to Aspen. Cuvee makes it worth a stop, or even a trip from Aspen.
They have over 60 (yes, 60) wines by the glass. You can even split a glass into three wines to compare them.
The owner/chef is innovative with the menu. I like to sit at the end of the bar and watch him sauté my Mussel appetizer.
