We passed on food in aspen and ended up at heathers in basalt. My type of place.
Great server, was accomadating to our three years old..
The best.. The lamb shank..
Afterwards we were given a tour of the desert case by heather herself..
Good stuff if you like a personal cafe..I do.

A couple of great menu items, like the pot pies and a fresh fish once in awhile make this place worth the visit. Don't expect quality service or timely arrival of food. In my opinion if they retrained the staff and line in the kitchen, they could seriously have one heck of a business. It seems busy all the time, however it could be from the slow turnover. It has great potential to really soar. A Little constructive criticism could go a long way.. take a page out of Capital Grille's service and watch out... (meaning everyone services everyones tables, more efficient dining room and better service to its patrons would mean more $ in everyones pockets) just a helpful tip... overall its average at best right now.

We had such an amazing lunch here in July. Their menu is excellent. The chicken pot pie was like home made grub. My husband asked for a special pasta dish not on the menu and was totally accommodated by our server, Vic, and the chef.

Outside patio dining with all the blooms around made a beautiful panorama.
Our server Vic is one in a million as far as personality, customer service, and information about the area is concerned. He made this lunch very special.

We hadn't really planned a two hour lunch. Three egg omlete and salad with shrimp seemed like a pretty quick order and although it was a Sunday brunch there were open tables. I suspect it's lack of wait staff management. They seemed to be having a great time with each other at the expense of the diners. There was no apology for the slow service, lack of follow up on an request for an ice tea refill, or abandonment once the order was delivered. The menu at brunch was a shade limited. Maybe we should have just had pie. Oh, and the men's bathroom door lock is broken and the helpful manager pushed it open on a young boy to helpfully check availability for those waiting in line.
