“Beautiful accommodation, convient ski in / ski out.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

While managed through an organization that manages properties for the Beaver Creek resort, the units in Snow Cloud at Bachelor Gulch are individually owned and furnished by their owners. Therefore the exact furnishings (kitchen tools, media, couches, tables) will vary from unit to unit.

We stayed in unit 716 and had a fun view of the lifts. There were 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and an additional 1/2 bath off the living space. For 3 couples this was a great layout. I could imagine that this unit would also work well for a family. The layout of the kitchen / main living space was an open format and included a fireplace and access to a balcony porch. On the balcony was a grill. The master bedroom had a great large master bath that included a large shower with body jets and steam shower functionality, the other bedroom downstairs also included its own bathroom with a shower/tub. The upstairs had a loft living space and the third bedroom with its own bathroom. The internet wifi worked well. And while some of the pieces of furniture were worn down and out of shape, we were super happy with this unit. The kitchen was well stocked with nice quality appliances and lots of plates, glasses and a reasonable assortment of cooking pans and utensils. The upstairs bedroom and the master bedroom shared walls with neighboring units and our friends reported hearing a crying baby, a couple arguing, and the water noises of the neighboring bathroom through the walls.

Snow Cloud includes an indoor garage for vehicles with elevators directly from the garage up to the living units.

We really enjoyed our location. In this season of very little snow, the Bachelor Gulch section of Beaver Creek had some of the best runs in Beaver Creek, so we were ideally situated. The ski lockers on the ground floor, and the convenient location of the lift just a little ways downhill from the door of Snow Cloud, made it super easy to get out and what we had come to do: ski. The Ritz Carlton was just downhill from Snow Cloud and had a ski shop for those who want to rent ski/snow board equipment, sign up for lessons, and/or buy new ski clothes.

Service at the hotel was great. We were warmly greeted, shown our room and given a tour of the facility. The desk staff were always kind and friendly to us. There were fresh pieces of fruit in the lobby at all times and warm chocolate chip cookies at around 3 pm every afternoon. Off the main lobby were outdoor hot-tubs. Also available to Snow Cloud guests were the heated swimming pool and other amenities of the Ritz Carlton. The resort also provides shuttle service to Beaver Creek, and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes from calling for a ride to one being ready at the front door.

Overall our group of six immensely enjoyed our stay at Snow Cloud, and would like to come back again.

We've seen Snow Cloud Lodge for years because we often lunch at the Ritz Carlton while skiing. For ski in ski out location, fantastic. For access to the Ritz, perfect. We missed being able to step out into Beaver Creek Village unless we took the shuttle but the resort shuttle service is fantastic with little more than 10 minute waits. Very nice rooms with fire places. If your priority is ski in ski out, book it. No negatives here unless you want to be in the Village.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the slopes.

The toilet started leaking in our room and they charged us $720 to replace it! They said it didn't leak during their inspection so it must have been our fault. We will never stay here again.

My dad, uncle, cousin and I decided to take quick trip up to CO for some golf and fishing. I booked Snow Could online and was very impressed when we checked in. Our room was a 4 bd. 5 bath. with a beautiful view off the balcony. I believe these units are probably privately owned and then rented out by the resort, but either way it was very nice.

Our unit was very up to date. It had a professional grade kitchen (that we never used), TV's in each bedroom (that we never used) and very nice furnishings with everything we needed (wine glasses, utensils, etc.).

I also like that the Ritz was right next door and we had dinner there one night, which was very good and also spent some time in a few of their other amenities.

Staying here also gives you access to the Beaver Creek Golf Course which we played and enjoyed.

We also spent some time in Beaver Creek Village which had tons of stuff going on. Lots of families with kids that seemed to be having a lot of fun. I think summer is really a better time to visit. I plan to come back with my wife and kids.

The unit was cheap but it I felt it was well worth the cost.

This condo in Bachelor Gulch is fantastic. The units are large and very convenient to the Ritz-Carleton a few hundred feet away. Snow Cloud residents can use the Ritz facilities. The even numbered units face the chair lift while the odd numbered face the trees. The lift view is more exciting but also more noisy.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms face the lift, which is more exciting but more noisy

We stayed in Snow Cloud over for a week that overlapped into the holiday President's weekend. In a nutshell, it was our family's favorite vacation.

The location is fantastic, as long as you anticipate and understand your needs (if you are in Beaver Creek to ski, of course). With children in ski school most days, we boarded what most of the time was a 10 minute shuttle to the main village. No issue there, as long as the shuttle was working efficiently (more on this in a minute). If you do not have children in ski school, simply place your skis on the snow and glide into the chairlift about 50 yards downhill. For apres, we LOVED the ambience of the Ritz, which is also located 50 or so yards down the hill and which you have full access to as a Snow Cloud guest. If you and your family like to enjoy a beer, live music, some smores, etc...you will love Bachelor Gulch. If you are a foodie, like to enjoy the ski village atmosphere, etc...the village or one of the adjacent lodgings may be a better choice. While not inconvenient to hang in the village and stay in Bachelor Gulch, it does require the occasional dose of patience.

The unit itself knocked our socks off. My wife and I generally stay in luxury hotels or complexes when we travel, and Snow Cloud more than holds it's own. The kitchen housed top end appliances, the wood flooring and wood beams in the living area was rustic elegance, etc. The master bath was very nice (not quite as elegant as the rest of the unit, but certainly high end), and the second bedroom and bathroom were nice as well. One neat addition was that the unit owner left close to 100 classic and recently popular DVD's, which we enjoyed on the nights we couldn't move from skiing the powder left behind by two rather large storms.

A minor nitpick was that, in a condo this nice, the TV's were easily 10+ years old. We don't go to Beaver Creek to watch TV, but it's one of those head scratching moments when you have a fire burning, a glass of wine in one hand, and a grainy movie on the small screen in the living room. Again, though, a minor nitpick, and we'd stay in Snow Cloud again and again.

One other issue was the Bachelor Gulch dial-a-ride. I am willing to give them a pass- maybe it was a bad week, maybe there were things going on behind the scenes that we couldn't know about, etc. But, in a word, their service the week we stayed there was horrible. The first day we called the night before for a pickup that would get us to the village well in advance of our children's school. They didn't show. When I called from my cell, they told me a van would be there within 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, it rolled up (and we weren't their intended passengers!). The second day, we were in the midst of a 14", 3" per hour snowstorm. They were late, but that's not a complaint in that type of weather. However.....you run a dial-a-ride shuttle service in a ski resort. Bachelor Gulch is over 8k feet in the air, and you travel down the steep mountain and up a steep mountain to travel to the village. No chains on the shuttles! Our shuttle, of course got stuck. We then sideswiped a passenger car that was stuck on the road to the village, and had to sit in the van for 30 minutes before walking the final quarter mile or so up the hill in our ski boots. Again, it was a major snowstorm...but we felt the shuttle service was ill prepared. I mean....it's a ski resort! The drivers also seemed generally lazy, and were the only service individuals we encountered all weekend that were not spectacular. By the end of the week, we were walking down the road 4=50 yards to the Ritz and taking their scheduled shuttles. Our vacation was PHENOMENAL, but the four or five minor incidents of poor execution by the dial-a-ride service caused little headaches that Beaver Creek prides itself on not allowing it's guests to encounter.

All in all, Snow Cloud is a gorgeous property in a tremendous resort. You will not be disappointed in the lodging no matter how particular your tastes, and as long as you understand that while you are ski in, ski out- it is not connected directly to the main village (it's a fairly easy ski over there, as long as you don't mind a few cat walks). We would stay there again!
