Bear Paw Lodge, Beaver Creek
Reviewed 17 January 2014

After staying at the Ritz in Bachelor Gulch a few years ago, my wife and I decided that we wanted to buy a place inside of Beaver Creek resort. We looked at more than ten properties, and fell in love with Bear Paw the moment we arrived. Its location on the mountain is special, including ski in/ski out access, a short hike to/from the Ritz (which is perfect during summer months), and enough distance from the Ritz and Beaver Creek Village to be a quiet and private location. We were even more impressed by the quality of the construction, the beautiful log cabin look, the size and comfort of the units, and the amazing common areas (lounge with fireplace, swimming pool and three hot tubs on the side of the mountain). Since then we have gone back every winter during ski season as well as several summers to enjoy what is a very well-kept secret: summers in the Vail valley.

My family and I stayed at the Bear Paw resort in a 3 bedroom condo for 6 nights and loved the property. This is the third consecutive summer we've spent a week in Vail/Beaver Creek. We've previously stayed in the Vail Four Seasons and then the Ritz Carlton Club in Vail. We found the Bear Paw to be just as nice a facility as both of those properties in Vail.

Bear Paw is in Bachelor Gulch, which is the nicest part of Beaver Creek. It's located at the top of Beaver Creek so the condo is over 1,000 ft above the rest of Beaver Creek, which made for amazing views from the property. We stayed on the 4th floor (top floor) in a 3 bedroom condo. The views out all windows were excellent. There is a full kitchen and a grill on the deck that we used to cook several breakfasts and even had steaks one night grilled on the deck, which made for a nice break from venturing out. There is also a very nice pool and hot tub area that is literally 20 feet from one of the ski runs, so it's right on the side of the mountain, which is very relaxing. There is also a private underground parking garage, which is very convenient and I'd imagine in the winter this would be a huge benefit. Lastly, there is ski storage on the first floor. We were there in Summer, but were able to store our luggage rack carrier in there so we didn't have to carry it on the roof of the SUV all week.

One thing to note is the properly is approx 15 minutes up the hill, so you're not right next to restaurants, etc. We found this ideal, since we had some privacy, yet could take a very accomadating shuttle down to the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch (they do S'mores every night there which is great for kids), or down into Beaver Creek for meals, etc. If you want to walk to restaurants or the village, this is not ideal, but if you're looking for amazing views and peacefulness, this is the place for you. Again, I would rate this property just as highly as our stays at the much more expensive Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton, so it's also a great value for the luxury.

As you can tell, I highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: Try for a 3rd or 4th floor for the amazing views.

We stayed at the Bear Paw Lodge during our visit to Beaver Creek for the Tough Mudder event. We had a group of eight, which consisted of three separate families. We stayed in a three bedroom Bear Paw condo with full bathrooms in each bedroom. It worked perfectly for us! There was a free shuttle service that took us to and from the event several times. The multiple shuttle drivers we had were so friendly and the shuttle was a little early or on time every time! Every staff member that we came in contact with were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay go better than we had hoped for! The rooms were spacious and clean and the view off the balcony was breath-taking! The full kitchen allowed us to stay in for a couple of meals and the in room washer and dryer were extremely handy to wash our clothes after the event was over. Everything was perfect! I would highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I have been renting for many years. Having fun inviting our friends and family to these beautiful condos on top of the mountain. Everyone falls in love with the breath taking views, perfect location and high end amenities. Hiking, biking in the summer and skiing snow shoeing in the winter right out your door!! We loved it so much this year we bought one...couldn't be happier!!

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful views but if you want to be able to hike or ski out your back door request...

I've stayed at Bear Paw several times, in both summer and winter. Bear Paw properties are located on the top of a mountain, overlooking other mountain ranges and valleys below, giving away to breath taking views. The properties we've stayed have been very roomy and accommodating with high-end furnishings and fixtures throughout. Some cool features include jacuzzi tubs, steam showers, multiple balconies, gas BBQ grill, HDTV with flat screens, and underground heated parking. The kitchens are huge with high-end stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The property gives you a sense of home-away-from-home feeling.

However, the best part about Bear Paw is location and views. For being somewhat secluded from town life, the properties make the majority of the activities very convenient. Everything is ski-in / ski-out. Free transportation throughout the villages, including transportation to several of the finest restaurants in Colorado. Basically, no worries after a busy day.

Summers in the mountains are my favorite time. The weather is great and the golf is better. You’ll have access to some of the finest golf courses in the country.

Have been to Beaver Creek several time and this was the second time staying at the Bear Paw Lodge. Went in January and had a three bedroom unit. Clean, large with all the amenities needed. The best ski in/ski on the mountain during the winter. During the summer can walk out and be on one of the numerous hiking trails. Superb staff, rooms and location. Definitely planning on coming back this summer and staying at Bear Paw.
