We just stayed in Cabin 603 and had the BEST time. Hiking is literally out the front door. Everyone around was pleasant and there to enjoy the beauty of the space. The cabin must have just been updated- fresh paint,
spotless kitchen and bathroom. We used the stove, micro, coffee pot, fridge- all functioned perfectly. The newly opened general store makes amazing specialty coffees and teas plus sells picnic and snack food and sundries. No need to go to King Soopers, Alfalfa's delivers. We also enjoyed the ample wine list in the Dining Hall. Definitely going back......

Boulder can become VERY crowded on special weekends ~ graduations, games, parent weekends, etc. One way to balance it is to stay at Chautauqua which is just a mile from campus and town. This 19th c. setting at the foot of the Flatirons has nice cottages with all of the comforts except TV. Fireplaces, Wi-Fi, clean full kitchens, etc. It's very quiet at night. And you are just a walk away from famous hiking trails, a lovely dining hall, performances, etc.

The only trick is to get a reservation which for the busiest of weekends can require a year of advance planning. It's worth it!

Room Tip: It's worth exploring the website to find a cottage that suits your group well. Some are small. C...

The house was so clean and charming. Perfect space to relax. We would highly recommend this to all. Our family came over for dinner, and we enjoyed watching a red fox and her two babies play in the yard. I would stay here anytime over the best hotels. Beautiful surroundings and hiking is fantastic. The restaurant was great. I would highly recomend to everyone. Very peaceful and relaxing. We didn't want to leave.

This was our second time staying in a cottage at Chautauqua and I'm sure we'll be back! Great location, adorable cottages and literally right next to the the flat irons for hiking. We stayed in cottage 19, which is on the west side of the park and you can literally walk right off the back porch onto the hiking trail. It's small, but perfect for 2 people. We really enjoyed the 2 screened in porches - one at the front and one at the back of the cottage.

My spouse and I extended a trip to the area by a couple days to stay in one of the cabins at Chautauqua and get a sampling of Boulder. We were really amazed by the landscape that started mere steps from the cabin door.

We're not very intense hikers, but we enjoy being able to immerse ourselves in nature, and Chautauqua offered multiple trails that offered what I think was the highest reward (in terms of idyllic settings and spectacular views) per effort invested I've ever encountered. It looked like there were many more serious hikes for more enterprising souls too. Just gazing out from the cabin porch offered much more than I expected for the price.

We stayed in one of the efficiency (studio) cottages. As advertised, it is quite small, but it had everything we needed. The weather was wonderful, so we spent a lot of time out on the porch. I think if it had been less pleasant outside we would have wanted one of the larger cottages, since there were not particularly good sitting options inside. We didn't have a chance to cook, but it had a full kitchen that looked quite serviceable and well-stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc.

There seem to be lots of great eating options in Boulder, but the dining hall on site offered a really tasty breakfast within a very short walk of the cabins. It was a bit pricey but very convenient, and everything we had was good.

I hope to return and share this discovery with more friends and family.

Our cottage was charming, and such a great location for hiking! Loved the dining hall on site ...we also recommend Lucile's for breakfast! Chautauqua cabins would be a nice idea for family's visiting the college, too. We definately will return!

Our second stay at the cottages was so satisfying that we never even made it into town (which we usually love!). It was quiet and peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed cottage 603. We appreciated having a kitchen but ate all our meals at the dining hall which had an updated menu with wonderful choices. Our hikes on the mesa and skunk canyon trails were memorable and the wildflowers prolific! WiFi worked great, BTW.
