A girlfriend and I stayed here for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I was darn glad that I paid for the room with Hilton points because I'd be mad as hell if I paid $399 per night. The valet process was a hassle. They asked if we wanted all our luggage to be delivered ot the room which was a no-brainer because there's a huge set of stairs when you drive up. But then the other valet started bringing our luggage up to us at the top of the first set of stairs. We had way too much stuff to be juggling it ourselves and there was no bellman in sight. Not feeling like a Hilton Gold experience. Then we had to traverse two different SLOW elevators to find our room. We were so exhausted from this experience that we decided to have a few glasses of wine in the room and just order some room service. I wasn't so mad that it took an hour because it was NYE, but after that long wait we discovered there was no silverware on our tray. We called down and they said they would send some right up. A half hour later we got the silverware but the food was cold by then. Grrr. Then, when it was time to take a shower, the water was cold. And housekeeping didn't come until 5 p.m. after we'd been skiing all day. Again, not feeling the Hilton Gold experience. The ONLY reason to stay here is if you can stay for free. It's a short walk to Lift 6 so at least there was that. If you're spending money, stay at the Marriott. Also close to the lifts and a little closer to walking to things in town.

We got an excellent rate at this hotel for Christmas. We even upgraded to a two king bed room. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, they provided us with a ski locker at no charge! Loved the cookies in the afternoon, nice bartenders in the bar. We had a wonderful time. The valet parking was high for us, so we parked at the ice rink, at first they added parking on to our bill and when we told them we had not used it they said we would have to talk to the manager. We showed the front desk person our parking stub and then he took the charge off. We left our coats in the room and housekeeping found them and sent them to the front desk, we really appreciated that. If we could get the same great rate we would definitely stay there again. We loved this hotel and how nice everyone was, and how close it was to the slopes.

There are lots of slopeside one-room short stay options in Breckenridge, but these are mostly of the studio condo sort. The Double Tree is a regular hotel just a short shuffle in your ski boots across a small parking lot from the Quicksilver Lift on Peak 9. It's a quick 5 minute walk to Main St. I've stayed at other Double Trees nationwide and was not nearly as impressed as I was with this one. The room was exceptionally clean and looked to be recently renovated. It had a wet bar and a dorm room-style refrigerator. The complex layout is a little odd as some other reviewers have noted, but this is because the hotel is built into a hillside. The three outdoor hot tubs are a great way to loosen your quadraceps after a day on the slopes. I will be returning.

Room Tip: Don't worry about the layout. It's easy to find your room. Make sure to ask for a ski locker key. There is a very well heated locker room at street level where you can store your snowy gear.

Valet is a $25 a day mandatory parking fee. If you stay above 6th floor it's a maze of 2elevators . the master king rooms are very small you can't get out of bed with out knocking over the lamp shade or hitting the nite stand. Internet is not free. Oh valet lost my car at first and found it, but lost the keys to the car. At the time of all this madness of locating the car i was never approached by a manager. They comp. the parking something I believe ought to be free and Internet and sent a bottle of wine. I really don't feel happy about the deception at the time of reservation not notifying about these additional charges. At this time I am still a guest we hope it will get better. THIS Not your standard double tree by HILTON so beware.

Room Tip: None just stay away

This is a great hotel for the money. The rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Their gym is adequate, and the two outdoor jacuzzis are great for après ski. It's a short, 10-minute walk to downtown, but they also offer a free shuttle. The only complaint is the maze-like setup of the rooms, with elevators that only go to certain floors which are slow and often packed--we always took the stairs. Minor inconvenience for a great value hotel. I'd stay here again.
