Water House on Main Street
Reviewed 25 February 2012

Just returned from a ski vacation last weekend in Breckenridge. We stayed at Water House, which is part of the Hyatt property there. Great place. We had a 3 bedroom/3 bath, which gave us a great deal of room (6 of us total). The resort is right on Main Street. Close to shopping/restaurants and, more importantly, close to the Peak 9 ski lift. Only took 5 mins to walk from the room to the slopes.

We rented the 1 bedroom unit! It was fabulous for our family of three! The hardwood floors, nice furniture, beautiful fireplace with gas logs and an outstanding master bathroom made the room feel just like home. The view to the mountains was breathtaking and the access to Main St. was so convenient. The kitchen had nice dishes, cooking pots/pans and even kid fork and dishes. The heated underground parking was so easy to access and we never had to fight for a spot right by the elevator. We will go back!!

Stayed at the Water House 10.4-10.7, 2011. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished. We travelled with another couple and found it to be quite nice. Located at the top of Main Street it was convenient to everything. Especially liked "Breck: seems to be the place that Coloradians visit for some down time. The restaurants and shops are staffed with knowledgeable friendly people that love their town.

If you visit when there is no snow as we did be sure to take the hike to Mohawk Lake. Simply beautiful. The Avalance bike shop is right across the street and they were really helpful about where to go. The guy Steve that owns Ski Outlet, North Face and Columbia stores took the time to write out a list of where to eat and what to see.

Restaurant list
Giampetro Pizza possbily the best ever lunch and or dinner
Blue river bistro drinks apps, dinner
Columbine for breakfast

we ate at five different places while there but these are our picks.

Would definately visit again

Water House is THE finest property in Breckenridge. The rooms are unbelieveably nice (hardwood floors, slate stone fireplaces, fully furnished kitchens with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, flatscreen Sony TVs with Dish, lush thick carpeting, balconies), and the surroundings are beautiful. The underground parking is a very nice touch as well.

We visited at the end of September (to see the aspens, which were phenomenal, by the way!), and I will warn you about this: there is no A/C at Water House. And there should be. Even though the outside temperature was only in the 60s, the temperature reading at the thermostat would be in the mid-80s by early afternoon. WAY too hot - I can only imagine how miserable it would be in mid-July if the outside temp ever approached 80. We had to keep the windows open and the fans on day and night just to circulate SOME air, and it still wasn't enough during the day. Be prepared for this.

One other thing that was rather inconvenient, though presumeable temporary - the resort facilities were in a sorry state during our four-day stay. The pool was closed and drained for repair - a fact we did not learn before our arrival or even at check-in, but when we walked down to use it. Not only was the pool closed, but all of the hot tubs on the pool deck and one of the three tubs adjacent to the fitness room was closed as well. Bear in mind also that these facilities are shared with the Hyatt and Marriott, so you get only two hot tubs shared between three resorts. They were in constant use every time we tried to go, so we didn't get to use them at all during our stay. That felt like a rip off, especially considering that we were charged a "resort fee" for these very amenties that we did not get to use. I feel as though they should have offered to refund the resort fee since they didn't provide the services I paid for. Some advance notice would have been nice as well, since the pool had apparently been closed for weeks already.

Other than that, I couldn't have been happier with our stay. The location was extremely convenient, as everything downtown was in easy walking distance. The room was immaculate, and it felt as though we were the first people to ever stay there. Despite being told in our reservations that there would be no daily maid service, there was nonetheless.

Overall, Water House seemed like home away from home, and we were sad to leave. We would definitely come back.

Room Tip: We stayed in 5306 (the only 1-bedroom to our knowledge), and it faces south towards a street (not ve...

The accomodations were excellent. They was very upscale; not your typical Colorado condo.. The Water House is within walking distance of the Breckenridge shops and restaurants. Highway 9 is easily accessible to many hiking trails. The only complaint is that we kept our windows open at night and some guy on a motercycle felt like he had to make as much noise as possible during all hours of the night and day. Other than that we throughly enjoyed our stay at the Water House. In fact we plan on staying a full month next summer.

Beautiful accommodations. Clean. Nice furnishings. Great views. Excellent location. Can walk right across the street to the Breckenridge Brewery and other great dining establishments. Only complaint was that when sleeping with the windows open at night (which is necessary on a cool summer night - there is no A/C), you will hear the neighborhood traffic and "late-night" crowd coming home from the bars.

Room Tip: Choose a room that does not face the street

The 2 BR 2 BA condo we stayed in was so luxurious with hardwood floors, balcony looking over a stream and up to the snow capped mountains. Gourmet kitchen with granite countertops was huge. Beds were new and wonderful to sleep in. Master bath was gorgeous.
We originally had booked a condo at Blue Sky which upon arrival I was so disappointed to see was below ground level. I did not travel 2000 miles to look at a wall! But no worries, my Blue Sky concierge said he would find a property I loved and he delivered with Water House. It is so, so luxurious.
I also loved the olympic size pool and multiple hot tubs. My son enjoyed the gyms.
