Lets get right to it. If you stay in the Grand Timber Lodge (original lodge) and you expect anything except rustic you will be disappointed. Nothing very modern about the lodge. The rooms are out dated with box tv's, terribly decorated bed linens and furniture. We were told the lodge was updated about 8 years ago. Well flat screen tv's and modern furniture and bed linens were out back then. For $300.00 a night you would think it would be alot better. Nothing comes with it. No room service. No cleaning service. Nothing. Unless you want to pay extra for any of those services. Yep extra to even clean the room. If you stay at the LODGE on peak 7 which is new you will have a totally different experience. We went over to take a look and it is very, very modern and up to date. So be careful when you book it and don't get confused about which location you are staying.

Room Tip: If you want a good room stay at THE LODGE on PEAK 7 not Grand Timber main location.

Thank you so much for sharing your recent experience staying at Grand Timber Lodge. We use our guest feedback as an opportunity to improve our property in order to ensure that all our guests enjoy a great vacation experience. We apologize that you were disappointed with the décor and lack of housekeeping services. That being said, we truly appreciate having the opportunity to address the concerns you have shared. As a timeshare property we do differ from standard hotels in several ways. The main difference is that we do not offer daily maid service. Our Housekeeping department does offer a variety of different cleaning services that are available for an additional charge, upon request. We are making great strides to ensure this information is included in all confirmations and also quoted over the phone. Also, our management team will be meeting this spring to discuss rental rates for the year of 2013 and they will be exploring the option of having daily housekeeping services included in the nightly rental rates. As for the décor, we do have a plan in place where each building gets updates on a schedule. Although we wish we could do more all at once we do have a responsibility to be fiscally responsible for our owners and to make updates and replacements as necessary. We are thrilled to hear you loved our newest property the Grand Lodge on Peak 7, which also offers rental space for non owners on vacation. We do hope you will choose us as your vacation destination in the future. Thank you again for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge.

This is a very well-located property which is within walking distance of the lifts. However, one of the best amenities is the shuttle service. This service makes getting to and from the lifts and getting into town so easy. They will come pick you up from your restaurant afterwards too, so you don't get stranded once the snow starts. The shuttle drivers were all great!

My only complaint is that the floors are not soundproofed. We were on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor residents were not aware of the sound issue since ther are only 3 floors in the building. Since this is clearly a ski property, there should be better sound proofing. At 7:30am each morning, the upstairs folks were jumping up and down in their ski boots. It sounded like a herd of buffalo. I don't know why you need to jump around in those boots or why you'd want to, but that sound, plus the doors slamming every morning, were more than annoying.

One other note is that the hot tubs and pools are only in 3 of the 8 buildings, so you have to brave the freezing cold to get to the hot tub, if you aren't in the right building. It's great that the sidewalks and driveways are heated, but that doesn't transport you there any faster.

This has to be one of the best locations on the mtn, as there are lessons and kids ski school and restaurants right at Beaver Run. I think this is much better than Peak 7.

Room Tip: The rooms get very warm, so turn down the thermostat and keep the doors open.

We got a deal at GTL as part of a timeshare sales pitch for their new development Grand Lodge on Peak 7. We got a studio condo and our first room was sort of blah so they very nicely upgraded us to the model unit. Beautiful view of the mountain. Free robes. About a 200 yard walk to Beaver Run. On site rental with very nice people.

The sales pitch was pretty benign as far as these things go. The guy gave us the whole "it cost us $1k to bring you here" etc etc etc.

One thing we noted is that since this is a condo rental there is no maid service. They'll bring you towels and stuff but no cleaning, so if you were to be bringing a family up here for a week you'd have a lot of clean-up, dishes, bedmaking to do during your vacation.

Thank you for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge! We are glad you enjoyed your ski vacation. We do try to accommodate as many room requests as possible and are happy we were able to move you to a room you enjoyed.
We do offer discounted lodging to qualified guests who choose to participate in a 120 minute presentation about the benefits of vacation ownership at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. While this opportunity is of interest to many of our guests, we realize that it is not for everyone. We appreciate you taking the time to preview the Grand Lodge on Peak 7.

Stayed at Grand Timber Lodge just before official opening of ski season at Breckenridge. Town fairly quiet since off-season. Some stores and restaurants closed as they prepared for opening of ski season (late November.) Rented a ground floor two-bedroom corner condo. Beautiful. Lovely view of forest outside all windows. Especially pretty when a bit of snow began to fall and blanket the trees. Could see a few nearby condos/townhouses, but they did not block the view. Two foxes visited the area around the condo patios morning and evening... nice treat to watch them. Great place for a week or weekend if looking for a quiet place to relax before the ski crowds. Our last Saturday was opening day on the slopes. Took the free gondola from town of Breckenridge up to the base of Peak 7 (I think.) Didn't ski, but day was sunny and was fun to sit on patio with food and a beer and people watch. Will definitely be spending more time at Grand Timber!

Room Tip: West side lodges are best for view since they abut the forest. Some have ski in/out rooms I think.

We stayed at The Grand Timber Lodge at the end of November 2011 and found it an excellent value. The rooms are very spacious and tastefully done in a cabin/mountain style. It also seems the rooms are being updated/remodeled with new and nice furniture, carpet, and TVs. The bed was extremely comfortable (the quality of a high-end Hilton or Hyatt), and the underground heated parking was fantastic. The resort has a ton of amenities and the food at The Lodgepole Bar & Grill is quite good as well as reasonably priced (I think a pint-sized draft beer was $4). Plus, the rooms were very quiet; we never heard the elevators or people walking/talking in the hallway.

The only drawback is the pressure when checking in to do a timeshare presentation for their new resort a few miles away (we did the presentation that was supposed to be 90 minutes but it ended up a bit over 3 hours...I'd say no to the presentation in the future).

We will definitely return.

Thank you for reviewing Grand Timber Lodge. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! We strive to make all guests feel as at home as possible by providing spacious, fully-stocked units, unmatched amenities, a restaurant on property as well as a free shuttle to downtown. The Lodgepole Bar and Grill is conveniently located in Building 6, right next to the larger of the two pool areas. The affordable lunch and dinner menu offers an excellent selection of appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, entrees, and dessert!
We do offer a gift to qualified guests who choose to participate in a 120 minute presentation about the benefits of vacation ownership at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. While this opportunity is of interest to many of our guests, we realize that it is not for everyone. We do apologize that your presentation ran long. We appreciate you taking the time to preview the Grand Lodge on Peak 7.

Did a time share exchange for a studio lock off room, it was small but we managed, and the many amenities at the resort made up for it. Received a call from the resort the week prior to our arrival (also a conformation in the mail several weeks before), asking if we had any questions or concerns. Asked if we arrived before check in time if we could park our vehicle there and ski? They said by all means, they would get us per-registered, let us park in the heated UG parking, could use all the facilities and locker rooms, and call my cell when the room was ready, which they did when we arrived and were able to get an extra day of skiing in! They do charge for WiFi in the room, and have a free WiFi access by the main desk, it was less than fast. They also have several free PC's next to the reception area. Every member of the staff was great from check in, maintenance, to shuttle bus drivers! The pool and hot tubs were great. Had 4 outside Natural Gas Grills that 2 of the buildings shared, each had there own individual decorative lamps, and picnic tables under a small pavilion. The studio was cramped, and the kitchen in it was one of the disappointments. It only had a dorm size fridge, 2 burner electric stove, dorm size microwave, and a single sink, and a dishwasher. I understand the other 1 and 2 bedroom units have full size kitchens and dinning tables. The ski out / in is okay depending on which unit you are staying at, and took us a couple tries to find the right ski in trail, let me save you some time and hassle, just take the free shuttle, they are great and so are the drivers!

We just got back from Breckenridge and a week at the Grand Timber Lodge. We really liked it there and would definitely go back. It is a ski in-ski out lodge/timeshare. You may be hit on to sit through a presentation, but you get $100.00. It was beautifully layed out, but would suggest buildings 5 or 6..just because of their location to the slopes. We had a studio and it was a bit cramped, but we expected this, so wasn't disappointed. We were impressed with the staff and the restaurant (service could have been faster).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view in bldgs. 5 or 6 if in the winter. Laundrys are coin op and on the second...
