It was my first trip to Colorado, and my first time on the slopes. The location, amenities, and staff at Grand Timber were spot on. We had everything we needed (equipment rentals, food, bar, hot tubs, and spa) within a few stoes of our room. Watched the first class NYE fireworks right outside the onproperty bar/restaurant.

This was, I believe, our 3rd stay at Grand Timber Lodge and we just love it.
It is important to understand that this property is a timeshare, meaning that it does not have regular hotel services such as daily housekeeping (unless you pay extra). Provided you understand these differences you will enjoy the accommodations and services.
The location on Snowflake Drive puts it just above the Peak 9 base area and you can ski back to the condo easily. Skiing out is accomplished from the Snowflake lift so can be tricky in either early or late season conditions, but no worries as GTL has an excellent free shuttle service from the main lodge to the base of 9 and anywhere in town. The drivers are friendly and responsive - Wes was a real standout, always getting out and helping to load skis and offer the ladies a hand, a true gent.
We had a two bedroom condo in the main building. Parking is in underground heated garages that are unique for each building - your room key opens the doors. The main lodge features front desk and a nice area with open fire, seating and a free pool table (need to learn the local tilt!). There is also a changing area which seems to mainly be used by the day use guests as well as sauna, steam and inside and outside hot tubs and pool.
There is another large spa/pool area in one of the other buildings. You can also find onsite ski rental and a restaurant/bar.
Going back to the unit: we had a full kitchen that we made good use of and it is well equipped. The living area was a little small for maximum occupancy, for our group size it was adequate and it features a gas fireplace. The dining area was nice although we repeatedly hit heads on the low lights over the table.
Washer/dryer is a nice touch, particularly for the skiers/riders as you don't have to travel with so many changes of clothing.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and everything was in working order.
Ski lockers are located outside the main lodge but on the opposite side to where the shuttle pick up is which is slightly inconvenient but keeps ski gear out of lifts and apartments.
We found both the staff and other guests to be pleasant and friendly and we will definitely be returning to and recommending GTL.
Breck itself is also worth a mention - it is a great little ski town that somehow feels more authentic than many others and while it is still big enough to offer options, it never overwhelms.
We all love the skiing and riding at Breck because it offers something for everyone without losing its personality. Really looking forward to getting back when Peak 6 is fully opened.
Remember that this resort is at a very high elevation. Those coming from sea-level and higher humidity can really suffer. Use the provided humidifiers, they make a difference and keep hydrated, hydrated, hydrated.

We rented a two bedroom two bath unit. It is actually a one bedroom with an efficiency. This was perfect for a family of 5. The location is ski in/ski out. Very easy to lifts. The shuttle drivers will take you into town or drive you to the lifts. The staff was excellent and very friendly. The pools and hot tubs were clean and nice and never crowded. The on sight restaurant had great happy hour specials and the food was good. The time share presentation was professional and interested. We did not buy but learned a lot and never felt pressured. This was a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to go back!

Room Tip: Room 134 was great. I would ask for a remodeled unit.

Hi LfromMN,

First, let us congratulate you on the most creative Tripadvisor name we've seen so far!

Secondly, thank you for all of ther wonderful words when it comes to our staff, amenities, on-site restaurant (Lodgepole Bar & Grill) and central location in relation to all that Breckenridge has to offer.

We are also happy to hear that you enjoyed the timeshare presentation and did not feel overly pressured to buy as the old clique would dictate. :) Perhaps you'll think about coming out in the summer to explore our nearby hiking trails and unforgettable activities?

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Grand Timber Lodge and we look forward to hosting you in the future!

They even went to City Market & picked up a cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. Good service, good staff, & fresh powder made for a great visit. Thanks & we'll be returning one day!!!

We stayed here a week in December during the Dew Tour, which was awesome.
I'll do my traditional Pros/Cons review

PROS:
My favorite part was the shuttle drivers. All of them (wish I could remember all of their names right now) were friendly, funny, and informative. They recommended ski routes, restaurants, things to try in town, etc. Awesome shuttle drivers, and the shuttles were pretty prompt and regular.

Overall we enjoyed the resort. I had no complaints about our 1 bedroom condo itself. Someone complained about the carpet but ours was plush so it probably depends on what unit you're in. Pictures looked dated, and complaints said it was, but our unit hat the granite countertops (or marble or whatever) and stainless steel appliances, humidifier, etc. The unit was nice. Fireplace, cable, flat screens... no complaints there.

Customer service with every single person I encountered was great. I don't have a complaint about anyone. I speak conversational Spanish so even the housekeeping that didn't speak English was not horrible.

CONS:
I really felt nickel and dimed. They charge for cleaning service and change towels once during the week. They also give you like 2 packets of dishwasher and laundry detergent. PACKETS meaning 2 loads for the week - yeah right.

The spa was priced like a real spa, but wasn't. I had a great massage, but the "relaxation room" had tea packets and a regular water cooler, no coffee machine etc. The eucalyptus steam room had a bottle of eucalyptus spray in it that I guess you had to spray around. There was ONE bathroom and ONE shower... it was kind of strange. I've stayed at different ski resorts that had spas and this was not a spa. It tries but comes off strange. Though you're paying spa prices, don't expect the real spa experience. I can't say they didn't try though.

Hot tubs in the rooms need to be cleaned better but that's everywhere. My uncle once advised me to run hot water and bleach in hotel jacuzzis and run the jets to see how filthy they were. This one was so bad I couldn't get in it the whole trip. So filthy. Always fill the jetted tub with hot water and bleach then turn on the jets and you'll see how clean or filthy it is. I've never stayed in one that wasn't dirty but this was the worst ever. On top of that most of the housekeeping staff said they didn't speak English so weren't helpful in that respect.

The outdoor hot tubs took turns being out of order. Minor inconvenience. Some other guests were complaining about it.

I would stay here again. The problems encountered were not insurmountable, and I will say the customer service was always great. Like another reviewer said, I would give it a 3.5 rating if I could.

Tip for management: I was reading your responses to reviews and they seem very canned, like it could be your response to any review. Personalized responses go a long way. If people think you are directly addressing them and not just typing a general response it makes them feel better.

Room Tip: Building 3 seems to be good for us.

Hi jozzmenia,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the Grand Timber Lodge. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Your comments about our shuttle drivers will be passed on to them.

Grand Timber Lodge is a timeshare property and we do differ from standard hotels in several ways. One of the main differences is that we do not offer daily maid service. Our Housekeeping department does offer a variety of different cleaning services that are available for an additional charge, upon request. In addition, we provide a free change of towels and a washing and dryer in each unit.

Regarding the quantity of laundry and dishwasher detergent- these are starter packets we have provided and our knowledgeable staff is happy to point you in the direction of the nearest grocery or commissary to purchase more.

In addition, we apologize that you experienced issues with the hot tub during your stay. We encourage any guest who is experiencing any type of issue while staying at Grand Timber Lodge to notify our staff so that we can address the matter as soon as possible. It is our goal to provide an outstanding vacation experience, and we welcome the opportunity to address any issues so that we can ensure that your stay exceeds your expectations.

Thank you so much again for your feedback and taking the time to review the Grand Timber Lodge.

We visited Breckenridge in late September, 2014 and enjoyed our Interval International Time Share stay at the Grand Timber Lodge immensely. Our place was a very nice 1 bedroom condominium that was in great shape and well equipped. It was located relatively close and very convenient to the downtown area. Although one could walk to Main Street, it would be a healthy hike. With that in mind, the Lodge provided bus service on a regular schedule that stopped at the hotspots in town.

My wife and I would love to visit again and probably will at some point.

Room Tip: Very comfortable with heated parking on the bottom floor of the building.

If Tripadvisor allowed for a 3.5 star that is how I would rate Grand Timber Lodge.

This is a very nice lodge but it is a dated mess. The bathrooms look like they are from a 1990 Motel 6 and the carpet is so thin that you need to wear shoes to avoid the tack strips. The kitchen had been remodeled but the lodge needs a face-lift and maintenance. I honesty do not know how they will get through another high season without some work.

The amenities are wonderful. The resort is at the base of the mountain, has great pools and hot tubs, a nice bar and restaurant and a great shuttle service to take you to town.

The only downsides we experienced were (a) that we needed an extra parking spot and we were told that because we were not owners they had to allow for parking for resort owners. The garage remained less than 30% full the entire time and we had to drive miles away to park the other car, and (b) the shower door in the master kept falling off track while using the shower. The bathrooms are not up to par.

Stay away from the timeshare presentation.

Beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly. We would go back

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not require stairs -- many of the rooms can not be reached without extra st...
