My girlfriend and I stayed in this condo the last weekend of January. The International Snow Sculpture Championship was in town. The weather was really nice, so there were lots of skiers in town. THE GOOD: The location was good, just a couple of blocks from Main Street. This is important because parking is impossible anywhere near Main Street in Breckenridge. From the Atrium you can easily walk to all of the shops & restaurants. The complex has some parking spaces in a heated, underground garage. I booked the condo on Friday (last minute) and the price was good (although I should have been more skeptical). The central atrium is nice, with games and books and communal space. There is also a large, clean outdoor hot tub on the property. The unit (#002) has a nice flat panel television, dvd and vcr. The unit also has a private deck and steps leading to the yard. THE BAD: Keep in mind that these condos are individually owned, so quality and decor may vary widely--the queen bed in this unit (#002) was TERRIBLE. I believe the mattress is original 70's vintage, and HARD. My back STILL hurts. The unit is heated by baseboard heaters, and the temperature was impossible to control. Even with all of the thermostats turned OFF (they had old school knobs without degrees) it was still WAY TOO HOT. FYI, units 001-006 do not open to the atrium. Instead they open to a dark, dingy hallway which connects to the underground parking garage and a smelly coin laundry. The toilet in #002 wouldn't flush a single piece of paper, but the maintenance people fixed it after a second call. And finally, THE UGLY: As for the decor, you will feel like you have stepped back into the 70's. There is horrible, dated wallpaper on EVERYTHING, including the light switch covers. There is even a mix & match component stereo system with...get this...a TAPE player component. The bathroom features vintage gold fixtures and the vanity is uncomfortably low. The place definitely does not have a modern look or feel. I can't believe the owners won't spend a few hundred bucks on a new (King size) bed, some paint and some bathroom fixtures so they can rent this place out with no updates for another 30 years. MY RECOMMENDATION: If you care more about getting a cheap price than getting a good night's sleep, try Atrium #002. Otherwise, try to find a better unit in the same complex.
