If you are Irish or any other nationality I highly recommend you avoid this place - poor food and even worse customer service.
Arriving for a 7.15 booking the restaurant was jam packed. We asked if a booth was possible - the response 'it's first come first served'. The response I would have expected even if a booth was not possible 'we are rather busy tonight madam but let me see what I can do for you.' And then 'sorry not possible tonight'.
That should have been a warning for what was to come. In summary:
- 15 minutes for a drink order to arrive
- 20 minutes for bread to be delivered
- 30 minutes for a food order to be taken
- 90 minutes for our food order to arrive
Our server was clearly rushed off his feet and when asked twice about the delay - 'kitchens backed up -we are really really busy.'
We had ordered a very nice bottle of wine to drink with our dinner - hard to string out a bottle for that long.
Sadly whenever our food arrived it was cold and in one case was not as ordered. Presentation overall was pretty poor too- what we thought was mash turned out to be 'mushed'rice. Yum!
Complaints to the server, the manager and then the purported owner (who allegedly hailed from Ireland) were met with similar comments about being busy and a 'what's your problem with this?' type attitude.
We weren't offered any complimentary drinks but a 'recook' or a 'takeout'. By this stage we were so incensed by the response to our complaint that we decided to leave. The manager didn't seem to understand the point that we bought the $65 bottle of wine to drink with the meal. At home I can assure you that the cost of this would have been waived or given a reduced charge as a gesture of goodwill.
We are from Ireland, renowned for its good food and hospitality. Up until our visit to Salt Creek it had been our experience Americans share this ethos but with a greater emphasis on customer service. This place ( which is linked to Napper Tandys) presents itself as an Irish American bar / restaurant and really puts shame on both those great traditions.
My advice is avoid this place like the plague! Over priced, understaffed, overbooked, poor standard of food and to top it off the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
And I didn't even get onto the toilets! Definitely could do with a good clean....
