“Avoid like the plague! ”

If you are Irish or any other nationality I highly recommend you avoid this place - poor food and even worse customer service.

Arriving for a 7.15 booking the restaurant was jam packed. We asked if a booth was possible - the response 'it's first come first served'. The response I would have expected even if a booth was not possible 'we are rather busy tonight madam but let me see what I can do for you.' And then 'sorry not possible tonight'.

That should have been a warning for what was to come. In summary:
- 15 minutes for a drink order to arrive
- 20 minutes for bread to be delivered
- 30 minutes for a food order to be taken
- 90 minutes for our food order to arrive

Our server was clearly rushed off his feet and when asked twice about the delay - 'kitchens backed up -we are really really busy.'

We had ordered a very nice bottle of wine to drink with our dinner - hard to string out a bottle for that long.

Sadly whenever our food arrived it was cold and in one case was not as ordered. Presentation overall was pretty poor too- what we thought was mash turned out to be 'mushed'rice. Yum!

Complaints to the server, the manager and then the purported owner (who allegedly hailed from Ireland) were met with similar comments about being busy and a 'what's your problem with this?' type attitude.

We weren't offered any complimentary drinks but a 'recook' or a 'takeout'. By this stage we were so incensed by the response to our complaint that we decided to leave. The manager didn't seem to understand the point that we bought the $65 bottle of wine to drink with the meal. At home I can assure you that the cost of this would have been waived or given a reduced charge as a gesture of goodwill.

We are from Ireland, renowned for its good food and hospitality. Up until our visit to Salt Creek it had been our experience Americans share this ethos but with a greater emphasis on customer service. This place ( which is linked to Napper Tandys) presents itself as an Irish American bar / restaurant and really puts shame on both those great traditions.

My advice is avoid this place like the plague! Over priced, understaffed, overbooked, poor standard of food and to top it off the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

And I didn't even get onto the toilets! Definitely could do with a good clean....

“Cramped, noisy and slow. We walked.”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

This was supposed to be the final celebration meal of a 5 day stay in Breckenridge with family members from the UK. We have lived in Denver for 18 months and have extolled the virtues of the normally slick and friendly American service we have experienced since moving over from England.
What a let down this was! The tables are literally crammed together with both guests and staff finding it difficult to move about. It is consequently uncomfortable and very noisy. When we asked the person who later turned out to be the owner if we could have a booth he just said curtly "first come first served"
There were clearly not enough staff and they seemed harassed and rushed. There seemed to be a lot of diners without food so we skipped starters and just ordered entrees and a bottle of wine. The wine took about 15 mins to arrive. We were happy enough to have a drink and chat whilst waiting for the food. After an hour some bread had arrived and some water and the waiter informed us the kitchen was "backing up". Not really our problem I would suggest and of little comfort to 4 now very hungry diners.
When the food finally arrived after 90 mins all the steaks were cold and the mixed meat platter was dry and over cooked. A side of what appeared to be unordered mashed potato turned out, on closer inspection, to be the jasmine rice we had ordered totally over cooked.
To cut a long sorry story short we complained to the waiter, the manager an ultimately the owner who was curt, unhelpful and rude. There was an offer to serve other dishes which given the long wait we had already experienced did not seem an attractive proposition. We decided to leave and were offered the food in boxes at no charge. We declined and asked if he felt it was appropriate that we should pay for the wine. He was firm that we should and no offer of complimentary drinks or reduced price on the wine was offered. We paid for the wine and left.
The tables were so close together and the bar area was very busy so that several diners overheard our discussions. A simple acceptance of bad service, substandard food with maybe acomplimentary bottle of wine would have prevented this altercation.. I have only walked out of a restaurant a couple of times. This was by far the worst dining experience we have had in America which is why I think it warrants this somewhat lengthy review.
The evening was effectively ruined and we ended up with a take out pizza from Xtreme which incidentally was very good. There are some good reviews of this place and it is obviously a very popular venue. We may have caught it on a bad night. However it was how the complaint was dealt with that was particularly annoying and upsetting.

“Expensive and disappointing”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

Considering how much we paid for a meal at this restaurant, the food was extremely disappointing. The calamari was not very good. Our entree took a very long time to arrive. My husband's "Salt Creek Combo BBQ Sampler" was cold. My sauce on the pheasant was overpowering. The order was wrong for both my meal and my daughter's meal. We were given rice instead of the baked potato that we had ordered. The broccoli was undercooked and too hard to eat. It was a very disappointing meal for nearly $60 per head! We will not return to this restaurant.

“Good BBQ”

Nice warm atmosphere. I was surprised at how good the BBQ ribs are. Second time wasn't as fresh. Wait staff was very professional. Service was fast. Wines were good.
