“A great first ski vacation experience...”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Our family (my wife and I in our early 40's and our son who is 8) had our first ski vacation and we could not have picked a better location. This hotel is literally right on the slope and it is truly ski in and ski out.

We chose a Suite room which was great for us - we requested Building 4, updated room, mountain view and we received exactly what we asked for. Room is good size, updated, very nicely equipped, clean and quiet. Towels are very good, linens nice and the daily housekeeping service exceptional and timely. Shower is great - roomy and hot water. This is not the Ritz, but, we did not expect it to be either - this is a solid 4-star room.

The property is nice with plenty of amenities. We used the hot tub and pool in the evening (as we stayed on a peak weekend the resort was full as were the amenities) and enjoyed them. We did not eat at the restaurants on site - plenty of choices in town - we used the delivery service "Gourmet Cabby" for dinner a few nights and highly recommend this (you can find it on the web) - plenty of different restaurants, reasonable price, prompt service. There is a general store on site which has essentials if you need them - they are costly but expected as this is a resort town in a remote location.

The skiing is what to come here for, as beginners we were so pleased with our choice. We used the on-site rental Breck Sports for our rentals for adults and were very pleased. Knowledgable, friendly and helpful (assisted with changing ski boots for a better fit). We used the on site rental for our son which was also great - you cannot go wrong using the on site rentals. This is absolutely the rental choice, you won't regret it.

For ski lessons, we used the on site Breckenridge Ski School (from the breckenridge.com website). We chose the "Ultimate 4" for us (adults) and our son - this is absolutely a GREAT choice. The individual attention and level of instruction was simply incredible. Our instructor (adults skiing) was Skip Bradley - if you can get him, do it. What an incredible teacher - patient, thorough, knowledgable, respectful and fun. Our son had the Ultimate 4 for snowboarding with Everett Pelkey - again, simply awesome! This is a great choice, gets you great instruction and is well worth the money.

In general, everyone we encountered (hotel staff, lift attendants, etc.) was friendly, helpful and pleasant. Overall this was a great vacation for us and we are very happy with staying at Beaver Run. We came for the skiing and the location and were pleased with our choice.

Beaver Creek is everything it advertised. We do not ski but found lots of adventure in the Breckenridge Area. The Lodge was fantastic right on the slopes with lifts at your door. The hot tubs, pools, steam room and sauna are awesome. The Copper Top restaurant is a perfect place to get a bite and do some expert "people watching". The rooms are well furnished and most all have great views of mountains and ski runs. You are right downtown with free shuttle service within Breckenridge city limits. we stayed in building #4 If you are coming from close to sea level do take time to stay one night in Denver if you fly in. Altitude at Beaver Creek is close to 10-11k above sea level.

The Shuttle service to get you to and from town is terrible. Steve the driver is rude and smells of BO. He drove by a number of times without stopping even though we tried to wave him down. Be ready to freeze and wait at least 30 min to get picked up.

The beds need new mattresses. They have no support. The place looks like a fallout bunker. I will never stay here again.

Location can't be beat at the base of the mountain. There are 2 lifts right at the resort. We had 3 1-bedroom suites in bldg. 3 with great views of the mountain. Staff was excellent and the rooms were big and spacious with full kitchens. We will be back for sure.

Location, amenities and quality of services top notch. Loved the hot tubs after skiing - couldn't get my kids out of them. This was our fourth trip to Beaver Run and the new lobby is a great addition. Best staff in Summit County!

Stayed here many times before. This is an older complex, but clean and well maintained, except for windows, which are not well insulated at all. We actually had a pretty good ice build-up on the inside of the windows, but the heat works well and the room temperature was very comfortable. The location is great, true ski in/out, about 10-15 minutes’ walk to the main street. Hotel has a shuttle that will take you just about anywhere in Breck. Gear lockers are too small to accommodate 1 pair of skis and 3 boards, so we had to take one of the boards to the room, but no one ever said anything. You can get breakfast lunch and dinner on-site. Will definitely come back.

Our proximity to the peak 9 chair was so wonderful! Ski rental (great service by Breck Sports), lift tickets, and base lodge all just a snowball throw away from our room. Our 2-bedroom suite in bldg. 4 was very comfortable and the complete kitchen made meals easy and affordable. Perfectly suited for a family ski trip...... my family was delighted. Clean, comfortable and convenient is a great combination-- Beaver Run has it.

Room Tip: bringing kids? Reserve a room with a kitchen and stop at the grocery store. :)
