“Through the years at Wildwood Suites!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

My husband and I have stayed at Wildwood Suites 8 times in the summers since 2001 to enjoy all Breckenridge has to offer from the NRO to tennis, a variety of great restaurants and unique shops, some with creative artisans on site. We truly feel comfortable in this clean and well maintained property and hope to return again! Coming from FL it is just the best place to enjoy the cool Colorado mountain air in the summer. It is so remarkably private and inviting here on Sawmill Creek and yet within walking distance of the town's historic district, Blue River Bike path and the Gondola to the Fun Park and panoramic views. I'm sure it is very convenient in the winter also, as it is right on the 4 O'Clock ski run and near the bus route. The condo unit is well equipped for cooking and hanging out to read or relax with a deck or patio, TV, Wi-Fi and the soothing sound of the creek rushing by. We like the ability to choose a non-pet unit. The outdoor hot tub overlooks the creekside area and is a welcome spot after a hike or tennis match. We've even seen a moose and her calf jog down the path by the creek right outside our condo! It is quiet here and cozy, with only about 35 units on three floors. The manager, receptionist and housekeeper are always helpful and friendly as are many of the guests and owners who we have met over the years. We are so grateful that we have such good memories from our stays at Wildwood Suites and hope to have many more to come in the years ahead.

Room Tip: Ask for a pet-friendly or a non-pet-friendly room to meet your needs.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and had a very comfortable stay. The main reasons we stayed here was because of location (a couple blocks west of main street Breckenridge) AND because they are dog-friendly.

The unit was a one-bedroom, and had been recently updated with new appliances and decor. That wasn't all that important to us, but after seeing some of the other non-updated units it was a nice bonus for the short times we were actually inside. The couch also had a fold out bed, but we didn't need it. We didn't really eat/cook there but the kitchen had everything we would have needed. Most importantly, the coffee pot worked great :) The wifi worked fine so we could sit out on the deck to use our tablets or computers. There was a TV in both the living area and the bedroom with basic cable. Again, not that important to us but both TVs had HDMI hookups available if someone would want to hook up their computer for Netflix or some sort of kids movie.

The only disappointing thing was that they were re-sodding the area behind the condo that has the hot tub and stream/sitting area. That would have been nice to have - but we certainly understood why it was off-limits during that week and didn't effect our stay.

We didn't interact much with the staff. The young lady inside checked us in quickly and was friendly. We did notice upon check in that our screen door to the deck had come off track. We told her about it and she asked if we wanted someone to come up and check it out - to which we said "only if they want to." We really didn't care that it was broken, but she seemed at least responsive to sending up a repair person if we really wanted it.

All in all it was a great stay. It's small but clean and convenient. For the price it was everything we needed and we're glad they accept dogs/pets. We will certainly stay again if we head that way.

Room Tip: Ask for a unit that backs up to the stream/sitting area outside.

The location of the property is excellent. Our unit was located at the back of the property overlooking the woods. The unit was very dirty. The tub did not drain until I pulled all of the hair out of it from other guests. The blankets were covered in dog hair and even the patio doors had dog slobber on the glass!. We don't have pets, nor were told this unit allowed them, we would have rented elsewhere. The carpet was dirty and stained too.

The front desk girl was extremely uninterested in making any kind of conversation. The only time she spoke to me was to request my credit card and tell me the unit number. It is clear the management does not care.

We have rented a number of places in Breckenridge, Wildwood is my least favorite.

The staff at Wildwood is extremely friendly and accommodating. Had any concerns been made during your stay they would have been addressed immediately. Wildwood’s top sources of clients are repeat and referred guests. In the future voice your concerns so that they can be taken care of immediately.

The manager Alex and her excellent team of people again provided an excellent ski vacation for me. Nice room, great location, quiet at night, plenty of fresh towels. Spent most of January and February 2014 here and the skiing was incredible. Even after 2 feet of snow it was easy to get to skiing because they are on the mountain next to a ski run. I never bring a car, close to town, great place.

For my main concern, finding a dog friendly place near town, this met my requirements. However, our unit, 220, was worn with rugs spotted and chewed on, and there was a lack of lighting that was frustrating. I slept on the fold out couch which was typical in terms of comfort. I think that if I stayed again, I would request an updated unit on the bottom floor, facing the creek as this would make letting the dog out to use the restroom much easier. Also, if planning on walking to main street, I'm not sure I would recommend this for anyone older as there was quite a bit of ice that you will need to walk over between the condo and main street (which is about a ten minute walk, which was fine for us, but not the two blocks we were picturing). The front desk staff weren't able to help us with much information on hikes or dog friendly restaurants and just not friendly in general at check in. We did enjoy the hot tub both nights or our stay.

Sorry your stay was less than satisfactory. Some units are awesome with granite, stainless, etc ... and others are not as updated. Please request an updated unit next time. If available we will provide it, if not we will let you know. We try to keep our property as ice free as possible in a mountain setting, but can not predict what state the side walks to Main street will be in.

Thank you for your patronage and hope to see you back.

This condo was close to town and easy walking to and from. They do accept pets which was what we required for this trip. However our particular unit needed some loving care and updating. It was also missing some amenities like Kleenex, etc. There was a door to the closet unhinged and leaning against the wall and a rug draped over the stairwell...unsure of where it belonged. This unit advertised 2 bedrooms. Beware and be sure you inquire...the 2nd bedroom was up a circular iron stairway. Older people would have an extremely hard time using it.

Sorry your unit was not up to your expectations. All condos are individually owned so the "updating" varies. Please request an updated unit next time. We hope you will give us another try.
