Marriott's Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge
Ranked #9 of 23 Hotels in Breckenridge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Close to downtown so everything in Breckenridge is within walking distance. Clean rooms, modern amenities. Beautiful views. Staff was very nice and friendly.
Parking kind of stinks, but it's not that big of a deal.
Much better than the resort in Vail.

Room Tip: High up with a mountain view

After reading the reviews from others, we were a little worried that this property would be very dated and with really inconvenient off property parking. Nothing could be further from the truth for our stay. The one bedroom villa was well equipped with fans, humidifiers and instructions how to keep the room cool without air conditioning. Follow those instructions and you'll be fine. Parking was on sight, although it was very tight. So much so that we had to have one of us (parking in or pulling out) had to stand out of the car to give directions.

The décor of our room was perfectly fitting with the outdoor surroundings, rustic looking cabinet doors and granite counter tops that matched them. The pull out sofa beds (Just two of us so nobody slept on them) were as comfortable as you would expect as sofas.
When you drive there it feels like it's far from downtown, but leave your car in that tiny parking space and take the walk behind the building to get there in about a minute.

If you're a skier or a hiker or biker Breckenridge is the place to go. Great food, beer and exercise! It was nice to be there during the summer "off" season with not a lot of crowds.

Room Tip: Top floor of the Alpine building.

The location of the Mountain Valley Lodge is great. Close to Main Street and adjacent streets with good restaurants. You are within walking distance to the gondola. For the skier I assume the location is also very good. However the rooms and the public areas need a major refurbishment. Compared to other MVCI facilities this place is way behind in renovations and updates. The pool is nice, however shared with a neighboring time share place. There does not seem to be anybody in charge of the pool and enforcing some of the basic rules. Quite often the doors are open and people who don't stay in either facility just walk in and use the pool. One time they even brought a dog. Families with kids come to this place and are disappointed that the pool and hot tubs are not really suited for families with little kids. Personnel are very friendly and helpful.

We just got back from a 7 night stay, the location was great, but the staff was even better. No matter what time of day it was or who was working they always had a smile on their face and willing to answer any questions about the area. We stayed in a Suite facing Maggie's pond & the mountains, great view, the unit was very well stocked with all of the essentials. The only thing that would have made it better would be if there was laundry facilities in the room instead of down the hall, no biggy, but gets kind of pricey. Also would be nice if the balconies was large enough for a table to eat outside. I would stay there again without hesitation

We've gone to Breck many times. This was the first time we've stayed here and we will return to this Marriott in the future. Our room was quite large and the kitchen was amazingly stocked. It would be very easy to cook meals in your room and save some money. The pool and hot tubs were excellent. The only reason this review isn't five stars is because of the parking. It was slightly off site and just sort of annoying to access your car. Other than that, it was a great stay. Awesome location as well!

Great hotel!

The rooms were big with a kitchenette and very clean. We had a grey view of the mountain and dam and slept wonderfully well- thanks to the mountain air.

The location was great! Right near everything in town- walkable to everything.

Would definitely stay here again.

We just spent a few day at this property last week (July 2014). This hotel does not have air conditioning. I understand that the weather is usually quite nice in summer and its not necessary 99% of the time. It was unseasonably hot during our stay and the room was muggy and over 80 degrees during the day. Our friends were staying at a hotel down the street for 1/2 the price which included air conditioning, so you can understand my frustration. Overall the location is really good and the view of the mountains is spectacular. Our parking was a bit of a nuisance as well. They had us park in a garage not on the property. This was very unacceptable at the prices they charge for a non air conditioned and remote parking hotel. We had to lug all of our gear from the room to the car which was basically in the underground parking garage for the hotel next door. I hate to give anyone a 2 rating, because they people were great and location was good, but due to the lack of AC and Parking I had to take it down 2 points. With good parking and AC this would be a 4 star facility.
