We booked this place because its URL made it look so great. We enjoyed it enough and would go back knowing the info below.
Certainly lovely furnishings and a nice kitchen, but the URL does not tell the whole story.
It is the lower unit of a bi-level structure so you have people in the upper unit potentially making noise at any hour. The really nice balcony is on the top unit. The retreat has a small tile patio with a view of the trees. Access to the river is along an uneven rough rocky narrow winding dirt path - not good for elderly people to try to make it down to the river.
The drive way to the retreat is also narrow and winding and you end up parking right in front of what little view of the river you have. The owner says you can park upstairs but this is really unhandy and illogical.
The master bedroom is at the rear of the unit and has no windows, so we felt like we were sleeping back in a stuffy cave. The second bedroom might have been a laundry room at one time - with its exposed pipes and lighting fixtures - and 2 weird rock columns right in the middle of the room.
The TV is a complicated satellite system that requires 2 remotes to be specially programmed to make it all work. No phone or WiFi and no laundry facilities.
The retreat is about a mile out of town along a fairly busy side road. It goes up to some interesting tunnels and is a pretty nice walk.
