“Appears under construction”

Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Not yet up to its neighbor at Mt Princeton Hot Springs, Cottonwood offers a nice temperature variety in five small pools, some with sun sails to protect from the sun's heat. But beyond the pools which seem recently completed, the grounds need serious landscaping. Showers need to be available for male and female/families guests separately. And 3 outhouses is truly unappealing (and unused) for families--which means that children may not be taken to the bathroom when appropriate. One side of the motel was incomplete with some kind of insulation exposed, as either an addition or remodel was underway. Keep Out signs adorned the pool fence, rather than any kind of fitting spa decor. Dirt, bobcats and construction gear were strewn around an unfinished parking area. Still the springs draw a huge tourist crowd, and the pricing is as though this is an enhanced and even superior venue. The waters are delightful, but this venue still appears under construction, or at least needs work.

Unprofessional front desk staff. Guy who checked us in is obvious meth head.
Most of staff seemed spun out and high.
For a health sap why do most all the staff smoke cigarettes and look so unhealthy?

These hot springs and hotel seem to be constantly under some sort of renovation, every time I go something is different and not quite done, if things ever get finished or they stop doing stuff this will be a great place. Heads up their is a sign outside which says if you drive a Prius they give a discount, you may need it as it's rather expensive.

Obviously the hop springs uses this place to dump broken furniture outside.
Inside was barely tolerable. Smelled like cat piss.
Outside are all kinds of dead furniture. Other peoples belongings and even a broken hot tub. Truly a white trash cabin just missing the old rusty cars.
Wouldn't recommend this crack shack to a dead person.

If I could, I'd give Cottonwood Hot Springs 4 1/2 stars. The day before, we visited Mt. Princeton hot springs, and Cottonwood couldn't have been more different, in a positive way. Yes, half of the rooms were demolished after a fire, and they're in the process of rebuilding, but that didn't affect the hot springs at all. This is a very rustic, outdoors setting, but that's what my family and I liked about it. We loved the rock pools, the fact that we could transition between pools to cool off and warm up, also that we were provided with swim noodles, that everyone used to float and enjoy the hot water. The price was a bit high, but considering we could have stayed there all day (and that they offer multi-use packages), it was worth it. The only reason that we couldn't give Cottonwood five stars is because there was no bathroom by the pools, only a porti-potty (you had to go into the hotel lobby to use the restroom), and that the shower area needed to be cleaned and refrubished. I really liked the heating wall units in the changing rooms, as they kept the room warm and cozy, and the changing rooms were pretty darn clean, too.
Be aware that you will need to drink a lot of water to deplete what you lose in the pools (which they have in a cooler outside the changing rooms), but bring your own water bottles.
We WILL be returning to relax and enjoy this great place.
