“Hands down - THE BEST horseback riding tour we've experienced!”

Harvard City Riding Stables
Reviewed 10 July 2010

This is a small and quaint yet amazing stable with friendly tour guides and well mannered horses. We went on a 3 hour guided tour in the summer of 2007, and no other horseback riding tour we've experienced (to date) has come close to being as involved or memorable! The back-woods tour took us over mountains and through streams to witness picturesque views. Unlike other tours that send you out in a group of 30, there were three of us in our group, and we were the only three on the tour. There was no rush, and the horses didn't make that mad dash back to the stable. My father-in-law is now taking our same Colorado trip, and we've booked him with the Harvard City Stables. Since they don't have a website, we made it a point to call around Buena Vista to find this stable. We didn't know the name of the stable; we just knew the general location. Lucky for us, the nice people from Mt. Pleasant RV Park knew which stable we were referring to. I would strongly suggest these guys to anyone looking for a charming ride off the beaten path. You won't regret it!

We have ridden with Max and his gang for five years now, taking friends and family, and have yet to be disappointed. Harvard City Stables provides the most interesting trail rides in the area: through the forests, crossing streams, pointing out wildlife;. The 2 hour ride takes you up to a ridge with a gorgeous view. The horses are calm but not boring.

I'm happy to report that you can depend on a great horseback ride from Harvard City Riding Stables. We've gone to them for the past
four summers; we just returned last week from this year's excursion there and it continues to have the same high standards for which
it's come to be known. Max has excellent people working for him. He's terrific himself! Their care of children riding with them couldn't
be better. Our boys always come away wanting more rides, longer rides!

This year, they went on a two-hour ride and it still wasn't enough! They can't get enough of riding with Harvard City, but they don't feel
that way about all riding stables! Even the adults in our group value rides with Harvard City. The horses are carefully selected for each
rider. The wranglers give great background on where you're riding, while always being attentive to each one's comfort and safety.

It's a beautiful ride and a great value.

My husband and I went on the three hour Deadman's Gulch ride. The staff were very friendly and the place looked like a dilapidated old ranch house. Very "old west" look to it. The horses were well taken care of and very tame. Our guide, Shane, pointed out the sights along the way. The trail went through a creek a couple of times and down some switchbacks on the side of a mountain. Very pretty scenery. The horses weren't stubborn trail plugs that you see at some commercial outfits.

I would ride with them again- nice staff and good horses.

My wife and I rode horses on the Colorado trail with Harvard City Riding Stables on May 29th. It was my wife's first time on a horse and we rode for 1 1/2 hours. The guide was very patient and experienced as well as informative. The horses were well trained. The scenery was amazing. We crossed streams 4 times. The trail is rocky in the woods and has steep drop-offs but the horses handle it well. This was one of the highlights of our trip. The stable is off by itself on a road through a mountain pass. The staff there rearranged our trip for us twice at our request with no hassle. They waited out a storm for us so we could ride the horses as we had planned. They gave us rain jackets to wear just in case the rain came back in and even extended our trip a little longe because we were enjoying so much without any extra charge. I would recommend this riding outfit to everyone. They really go above and beyond to make your experience a good one.
