“Great rooms, but a lack of finishing touch”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

The rooms are fantastic. They're spacious bungalows, with a nice outdoors shower, average but good beds, nice terrace and an airco.
The pool was also good, with three hot tubs on the side. But the atmosphere just wasn't right. The service was friendly but lacked efficiency. There was some very annoying '50 - '80 music on the background at all time, and everything was a bit kitsch with the different color lights etc. (just see the pictures).
However it is a beautiful place, but that's just Costa Rica.

My cousin and I stayed at the resort for 4 days, and were treated like royalty the entire time. The staff was amazingly kind and hospitable, always helpful. The hot stone massage was decadent, and the food was very good.
The room was as even nicer than the pictures on the website, absolutely beautiful and relaxing! Since the room wasn't attached to any other lodging, it was quiet, peaceful, and felt like our own little oasis. The outdoor shower was fantastic and so enjoyable!
We did the Arenal tour and soaked in the hot springs, which was nice. The guide and driver for the tour were excellent, and even stopped along the way to show us toucans and a sloth. The rest of the time we just stayed at the resort and relaxed thoroughly.
The only drawbacks were that the resort was a ways away from other attractions or dining, and that the road is somewhat difficult getting to the resort (though not awful). However, we were aware of these aspects prior to the trip and did not find them off-putting at all.

We had quite some rain, so we were lucky to have a 4 wheel drive :-)
The service was awesome and the hot jacuzzi made the day perfect.

Note: remember to take Moscito spray with you

I also recommend the boat safari. Was a highlight. still you can go there with your own car and get the trip cheaper. the organization by the hotel costs of course but in this case you can enjoy the trip.

This resort is one of nature's beauties. It is tucked away in the rainforest and away from any and all outside noises/distractions. The spa/massage was amazing and the staff were incredibly nice. They were always waiting on us hand and foot. The rooms were all private and gorgeous. Outdoor shower and beautiful wood throughout the suite. The only negative we could say was the humidity level in the room left everything with a "damp" feeling. However, it is a rainforest! We felt so special with our candlelit dinner on the private patio and room decorated with roses. Food was BEYOND 5 stars, fresh and delicious! Make sure you bring a raincoat and plan accordingly if weather puts a samper on your plans. Make sure you go to the Rio Celeste Waterfall and take in the beautiful blue waters!! Be prepared for rocky, crazy roads to get to this getway, but it's all worth it!!

My husband and I traveled to Costa Rica for 6 nights, and spent 3 nights at this hotel. It was definitely the right amount of time to spend here. It's pretty remote, so you wouldn't want to have it be the hub of your trip, but it was just such a magical place, you definitely want to leave enough time to enjoy it all!

The food is delicious and fresh- much better than anything we had at our second destination (the Westin Playa Conchal) The portions are big so I recommend for dinner getting a salad and splitting an entree to save yourself some money. The breakfasts were delicious. The fruit and cheese are extremely fresh! Plus you have the opportunity to have a full hot breakfast (typical Costa Rican or American---I recommend the Costa Rican!)

The staff is superb. Friendly, attentive, genuinely interested in the comfort and happiness of the guests. The hot tub and swim up bar were great as well.

Highly recommend paying a little extra for the jungle view room. It felt like we were in the middle of rainforest. Lots of interesting animal sounds plus the awesome sounds of the rainforest! The casitas were enormous and spotless. The beds and pillows were comfortable. It was a romantic spot that is perfect for a honeymoon or getaway with a significant other.

As the other reviews outlined, definitely rent a 4x4 if you are planning on talking the new route. We were fine in the economy 4x4 rental (Suzuki jimmy). Just take your time and travel by daylight. And watch out for single lane bridges.

In summary, our trip to Costa Rica on a whole was great, but the time spent here was amazing. Highly recommend!

Our family recently spent four nights in this beautiful hotel in the heart of the Costa Rican Rainforest! The rooms were incredibly spacious, well-appointed and clean. We loved our outdoor shower and the total privacy of the jungle surrounding us. All of the bartenders and waiters provided excellent service, and we were very pleased with not only the food selection, but the quality. I have a garlic intolerance and the chefs were exceedingly accommodating with preparing special meals for me. The complimentary breakfast was excellent but could have used a little more variety in the baked goods area. We found everyone at the front desk to be especially courteous and very helpful with side tours, particularly Oscar and Felix. By all means, take advantage of the opportunity to go inner tubing - you book directly through the hotel. Thanks for a great stay - Pura Vida!

Room Tip: All rooms were excellent! 26 Bungalows.

We went here on a day trip to rio Celeste and had dinner here. You can either stay in the hotel or just join for dining. Personally I was glad we didn't spend the night since there is nothing close by if you get bored. The place was beautiful and had coy fish and very good food! I highly recommend the espresso!
