Now here is a restaurant that really deserves to be better known! Bunk House features grass-fed beef from the farm of the owners, and for those who aren't familiar (I suggest reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma or just reading the health info on eatwild.com) if you're going to eat beef, it's really the only way to go. Far healthier and leaner than normal factory-farmed, grain-fed beef, and everything at Bunk House benefits from similar care in selection and cooking.

Their brioche-style buns are excellent, and you definitely want to go with the excellent home-made potato chips that come free with your burger rather than the just-okay fries that cost extra. Very good value for money as well.

These folks are nowhere near as busy as they ought to be - I suspect that many locals don't know about the virtues of grass-fed meat - so do give them a try!

Located on the main drive heading thru Canon City, CO (HWY 50). If you are there you should stop for one of their wonderful burgers and potato shavings (homemade chips). Super friendly and caring people. There are lots of choices on the menu and if you like smoothies and coffee you must try the cappuccino smoothie. It's heaven in a cup! Hubby says the Blueberry pomegranate smoothie is really yummy too. I had the Cowboy Up burger (4oz size) with onion rings and it was perfect. They don't overload the burger with BBQ sauce but rather put just enough to give it flavor. I'm sure you could ask for extra if dripping is your style. It's topped with a couple onion rings and cheese and of course lettuce. Yum!

I have to say that the few burgers I've eaten here are really pretty good. Yes, they are somewhat pricey, however, you are getting a very good quality of meat. For me it was and still is worth the price. I get their pretzel buns every time I get one of their burgers. Their pretzel buns are really good you have to try them when you eat here. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpul. If you are military they do offer a discount another plus.
