Mission Beach Shores
Reviewed 15 October 2012

We just spent a very lovely four nights at Mission Beach Shores. It's the perfect place to stay if you want somewhere private, comfortable, and chilled out. There are four lovely bungalows, each very well furnished and equipped, and tastefully decorated in a "Balinese" style. We especially liked the outdoor eating / snoozing area at the front of the bungalow. All four bungalows are well separated by a lovely tropical "jungle" garden, ensuring great privacy. There is a shared pool, and shared laundry facilities.

The place is run by a lovely local couple, who were very warm and welcoming. They don't stay onsite, but live nearby, and there's a courtesy phone to call them if you need anything. We were lucky enough to have the place completely to ourselves for the first two nights, and didn't even see the other guests when they arrived.

The site is directly across the road from the lovely Wongaling beach - great swimming, and hardly anyone else there. There are three restaurants nearby, but it is a solid 10-15 minute walk to the supermarket and other shops. We felt a little limited without a car, but overcame this by renting some bikes to explore on. This gave us access to some great jungle hikes, plus the actual Mission Beach town a few kms away.

The perfect place to stay if you want to relax and unwind. Highly recommended!

Firstly we wish to thank you for your most welcome comments. At Shores we try to work to four main principles: To provide the maximum comfort and relaxed environment for our guests.
To create an atmosphere that is conducive to ensuring that guests will be happy to return to Shores at a future time.
To provide, in our small way, an adjunct to the natural beauty of the Mission Beach Area.
To see people who arrive as guests depart as friends.
At all times, your comfort is our pleasure.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights in our very comfortable and attractively decorated bungalow. The warm and friendly demeanour of the manager of the property further enhanced our stay. Our bungalow was one of four, with palms and ferns providing a relaxed ambience and privacy. The very beautiful Mission Beach is located across the road, but cannot be seen from the property. The fact that there were no views was initially disappointing, however, the benefits of this delightful accommodation soon negated that. We enjoyed dinner out on 2 occasions, at the nearby Nana Thai restaurant and also at the Millers Beach Bar & Grill. Both very good. A large Woolworths supermarket is also nearby. We enjoyed several walks in the rainforest and were pleased to see one of Australia's endangered birds, the Cassowary, which is very protected around MIssion Beach. l highly recommend Shores as a great place to stay.

We stayed in a large studio apartment in this small complex of maybe six apartments all set around a central pool area.
There are noi views but the apartments have a garden setting and are across the road from the beach and a two minute walk to a cpoiuple of bar is set/restaurants. There is a supermarket, bottleshop, etc., about four kilometres or five minutes drive away.
The apartment was modern, roomy, clean and quiet.
There was a food lounge area, well equipped kitchen and outdoor dining and lounge areas. There was also an undercover outdoor barbecue which we used.
This property was high quality and the welcome from manager Kerry was warm and helpful.

On arriving at Mission Shores we where welcomed by a lovely lady (sorry I can't remember your name). The chalet was spotleass. We had the resort to ourselves, the pool was perfectly clean and the surrounding garden beautiful. The only down fall was we only had a 2 night stay. Our outdoor area was private with a lovely day bed, sun lounges as well as table and charis. Perfect .
We have spoken to our 3 adult children and their partners and hopefully we will all go for a family holiday next year. A lovely spot to just chill out.

Bungalow apartments are spacious, clean and well equipped. They are very private with beautiful gardens and outside patio areas. The pool is delightful. Only a short walk to the beach and some good restaurants.

Stayed at Mission Beach Shores for two nights, its an excellent getaway, its peaceful, its quiet and very clean.

The owners don't live on site, however are readily contactable, when arriving at the accomodation, it was nice and clean and the bed was very comfy.

The resturants are only a short walk down the road, its a shame to still see the destruction of Cyclone Yasi even after a year.

The Mission Beach area is beautiful. These chalets are lovely and miraculously escaped any damage from cyclone Yassie in February.

We particularly loved the outside area, with the comfy cushioned seats, large table and an outside light and fan. The communal washing machines need 3 one dollar coins to operate and our clothes dried very quickly on a clothes rack outside our chalet. As there are only four chalets it was very quiet except when the digger was working in the garden next door. Marie said they were probably still clearing the fallen trees uprooted by cyclone Yassie. Marie and Mike have the apartments up for sale. Every time I went for a swim I had the gorgeous swimming pool to myself. Wongaling beach is just across the road; one cannot see it from the chalets because of vegetation but there is a bench just up to the right with a lovely view of the sea and beach. There is also a large new Woolworths nearby.

Unfortunately the expensive resort on Dunk Island, which I had planned to visit, has been destroyed by cyclone Yassie; it does not look as if the resort will be rebuilt in the near future as we were told that the main investor of the resort has returned to Canada with most of the insurance money.

Thankyou so much for your comments about Shores and the Mission Beach environs. It is indeed gratifying to know that we are providing excellent accommodation in a beautiful area. News from here is that Dunk Island Resort and Bedarra Island have both been sold, with both resorts to reopen as soon as possible.
