“Loved it, well worth the trek.”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

Hidden treasures museum in Scotland's highest village was a real treat. We had a trip down the now disused lead mine and Tony our guide was both informative, friendly and funny. He also took us to the miners cottages through the ages. We then went up the hill to see Margaret in the old miners library, what a lovely lady she explained how the library came about and the various village trophies and medals won for various activities. We finally ended up panning for gold with Margaret and found some little pieces. What a find, it needs more advertising to get more people to see this lovely old village and it's history, and the lovely people that look after it and greet you. A good family day out that will show the kids more than a computer/iPad can show them, in a stunning location. Go on you know you want to : )

“Lovely family day out”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Just spent afternoon doing tour of the mine & minors cottage, the guide was both interesting & entertaining for all age groups, we went with my two boys aged 8 & 10 and my 75 year old father in-law. We then panned for gold with Margaret, who was brilliant with the boys, really helpful & enthusiastic, where we has the unexpected bonus of finding some good sized specks of gold.
I was surprised to find such a different, lovely day out so close to Glasgow, plus if you approach the village from the west from the A76 & B797 the scenery is spectacular.

“Great place for lunch.”
Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

We had lunch here one wet afternoon when out for a walk in the area. We got a nice warm welcome even though our coats were dripping. I settled for scrambled egg and toast which was very tasty. The fayre was based on healthy eating so don't expect chips on the menu. All very nice in very pleasant surroundings. I wll return.
