A fantastic museum consisting of 4 sites around the village. An excellent guide gave us a tour of the mine followed by the miner's Cottage, which reconstructs the living conditions for miners in 3 different periods. The Miner's Subscription Library, complete with the collection over 300 original books, was interesting as was the museum itself. Complete with friendly staff, a lovely tearoom and the views from Scotland's highest village, what more could one want? When I visited, a lack of rain! But such is life. The whole experience was fascinating and well worth the visit.
