Very friendly helpful and efficient lady at the bar who was very good, very quick service but let themselves down on a few things... The house speciality was finished by 2pm, there's no ordering from your table you have to take your place at the bar. and condiments from plastic sachets is all a bit too service station for my liking.
The food was good (lovely beef) - we both had the Sunday roast. Basic details like gravy in your own pot and horseradish sauce that isn't out of a plastic sachet would have massively improved the presentation and enjoyment for relatively little effort on their part.
They had a jazz band playing from about 4pm, and you get the felling it could be a really good place if they just ran the extra quarter mile.

Very nice restaurant. Beautiful room. Lovely staff. Sadly service was overwhelmed by the Bank Holiday. Starters and desserts were fine but had to wait 45 mins for main course. Apparently issues in the kitchen. Steak pie was hot inside but cold on edges. Fish overdone. Food could have been hotter. Obvious food is microwaved but not too well. Would have loved to have given this place a higher rating - but I guess we went on the wrong day. Would give benefit of doubt and try again.

We held our joint birthday party in the Old Barn restaurant at the Cock Inn on 12 April and had the room to ourselves. We had 20 guests (including two small children) and were seated at a long and spacious table running down the centre of the faithfully restored old barn, now an atmospheric, spacious room with authentic beamed ceiling and sympathetic décor. The room and table were beautifully set out and perfect for our needs with fresh flowers decorating its centre set on pristine tablecloths. Attention to detail was very evident. No effort was spared to make our special occasion a success in every way.
We had agreed a set menu with Hilary, the restaurant manager, with several choices for starter and main course and were able to pre-order our guests choices in advance. This ensured that service was fast and efficient and everyone ate their choices at the same time. We were looked after by Hilary, Sue and Sophie who worked very hard to ensure that everything we wanted was there waiting for us.
The standard of food provided by Andy and the kitchen team was excellent and the wine was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and our lunch was in every way just perfect. We have travelled widely both at home and abroad and we have seldom encountered such professional and sympathetic treatment on an occasion that was very important to us, our family and our friends.
I wholeheartedly commend this pub and its restaurant to anyone thinking of marking a special occasion with a memorable meal.

We have just returned home after another excellent meal in this friendly pub. We had booked a table (which is essential as it is very popular with walking parties) though today it was very full with folk like us who were just enjoying lunch out on a miserable rainy cold day! We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. I had Sea Bass Nicoise and it was superbly cooked, indeed the best I have ever had and we eat out frequently! My husband had Gammon and he also was equally pleased. We will certainly keep this pub on our visiting list. Today was an excellent test of efficiency of the staff as they were extremely busy, but still had time to give us a friendly smile. Here you are treated personally, not just a Table number, Thank you.

Lovely traditional pub, beams, open log fire, great garden with outdoor dinning area and a large, safe kids play area. Eat inside or outside or book a table in their lovely restaurant, regular, good selection menu with a daily specials board full of goodies. Starters and main courses very good value but deserts overpriced.
