We just got back from our stay at Spurs N Lace and we had the most FABULOUS time! Leo and Joyce were AMAZING, the 3-course breakfast was PHENOMENAL and if we go back to Colorado Springs... we are DEFINITELY staying there again!

Our room was comfy/cozy and it felt like staying at a relative's house. If you had any questions about where to eat, what to see, etc... Leo and Joyce were more than happy to help you out. They went out of their way to make sure you felt at home and the morning breakfast (with Leo & Joyce and the other guests) was a highlight to our mornings!

And for the guests that were irritated about not having fresh sheets and towels every morning... Do you change your sheets and towels every day? They are absolutely accommodating if you run out of something (just ask) and this lovely couple doesn't invade your space. They want you to feel at home (and we certainly don't change our sheets and towels daily. ;)

This place is a gem and if you don't spend AT LEAST a couple of days/nights with Leo and Joyce... you are missing out!

Room Tip: We would absolutely suggest spending a couple of extra dollars to stay in the Mountain View room. It...

Horrible. A disaster. They give the term B & B a bad name.
From the filthy alarm clock next to bed, the feathers dangling from all the lampshades; the firm admonition from the owners not to use the GOOD washcloths when taking off makeup to the dresser filled with light bulbs, screwdrivers, glue and other miscellaneous personal items, leaving no room for the occupant to unpack. Did I mention the 7:10am call from the owner asking if I planned to join them for breakfast at 8 am. My response - I told your husband I would not be down that early...I am on vacation. Oh, lest I forget the Disney themed “no tear” bubble bath perfect when renting room to a family but not appropriate for adult inhabitants. The deep and wonderful tub/shower but without a skid mat was an accident waiting to happen. The advertised “mountain view” is a window, in a door, overlooking the parking lot, overlooking the roofs of the next building, so that yes, you can see a bit of the mountain, but to say this is a mountain view room is not only an exaggeration but a misrepresentation and false advertising.
I occupied the room for one out of the seven nights originally booked. I left. I got a refund for 5 nights. End of story.

Room Tip: When choosing a B & B, be sure they are part of the local association of B & B owners. This...

Staying at Spurs and Lace Inn was ours first Bed n Breakfast experience. We stayed there for 2 nights during our visit to Colorado Springs in Christmas 2013. We chose S & L based on internet reviews and price. I must say that the stay was surely the value for money. I simply loved Spurs and Lace for more than a reason. Both Leo and Joyce were great host. Joyce's filling and tasty breakfast along with Leo's funny stories made great start for both days. Another nice thing about breakfast is the interaction with other guests and both Leo and Joyce. It just created the feel of having breakfast with your family. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated for a romantic stay. Even though the room was not served during our stay, extras stored in room solve the issue. There was no TV, which didn't bother us. The Wi-Fi signal is strong and consistent. The location was apt for touring Colorado Springs and nearby locations. Garden of Gods, which is one of the prime attractions is just 2 blocks away. There is no fitness center or pool, however gracious and caring hosts, well-equipped rooms and perfect location made our first Bed and Breakfast experience really enjoyable.

Room Tip: " Room on the first floor is attached with dinning area and not private"

Spurs and Lace Inn is a charming, restored Victorian off the main street. We planned to stay one night and stayed for two. We chose S&L based on an internet search and price, and consider our stay to be good value.

Joyce and Leo are gracious hosts who make a tasty, filling breakfast that was enough for my wife and I until dinner. The breakfast is served family-style with the any other guests. Breakfast conversation was enjoyable for us, and topics varied from cannabis laws to hydraulic fracturing. If you don't enjoy lively conversation at breakfast, skip it. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. There was no TV, which didn't bother us. The Wi-Fi signal is strong and consistent. There is no elevator, so choose a room on the ground floor if you have heavy luggage.

The S&L rooms are not large, but well-equipped with chairs and electrical outlets.

We had one dinner at the Mason Jar, about a 3-minute walk. We both had fresh rainbow trout, broiled and grilled, and it was excellent. This part of Colorado Springs has many eclectic shops and businesses, convenient to S&L.

There is no fitness center or pool.

We found Spurs & Lace and Leo before Joyce joined him. We have stayed at quite a few B&Bs in our travels and none with as friendly and gracious hosts as Leo and Joyce. We stay here about once a year for 3 nights to a week when visiting Colorado Springs. The location is perfect as there is a great espresso cafe around the corner and historic Old Colorado City starts one block away. The breakfast is usually a light soufflé and fresh fruit, if you are looking for Bacon & Eggs, try The Dive which is within walking distance. The best nightly rate is achieved by contacting them directly by phone. We prefer B&Bs and Spurs & Lace specifically because we get to meet and interact with the other guests at the 8AM breakfast. They range from other parents visiting their kids to a young couple who were Air Force tanker pilots. I have also contributed a story to their breakfast storybook. One year my wife and I even cooked lunch for Leo and Joyce. I would give Spurs and Lace 10 star if allowed.

Joyce and Leo were great hosts. The accommodation was spacious and this is definitely the place to go to re- connect with 'whatever' no TV was ok as we still had wifi. We knew that our room would not be serviced during our stay and we were shown where extras were stored and we were ok with that. The only downside for us was the mandatory breakfast at 8am. The meal was ok but not what we were used to and too much and if staying be sure you have an understanding of your countries position on the euro, religion, and marriage. We did enjoy story time at the end of breakfast. All said we would stay again although our starting position would be bed only no breakfast.

I chose this B&B for the price and the reviews were favorable. I should have read through more reviews. The place was clean and fine for the price, $66 per night. There is no maid service so you need to be ok with either making your own bed or leaving it unmade. The garbage pail in the room was not emptied so you have to empty it yourself. Towels are not freshened each day and the dresser they provide for your clothing is stuffed with pillows and blankets. There is no closet just 4 plastic hangers on a coat rack. Breakfast is 8am sharp and is always the same and not very good. When you advertise bed and breakfast the breakfast should be special and varied. Put some thought into it, please. The innkeepers, Uncle Leo and Joyce are nice but they should really rethink the business they run. It's more of a boarding house than a bed and breakfast. Check in time is 2 hours per day, that is ridiculous! If you get there past 5:30pm or before 3:00pm you will need to call Leo and hopefully he will answer the phone and tell you where he left the key to the house and the key to your room, outside in a plastic bowl. Not a comforting thought. If you know you have guests arriving you need to make yourself available to greet your guest not go to the movies and require your paying customer to track you down. Bad business and a bit rude.
It is in a good location for most of the sights and a 5 minute drive to Dunkin Donuts! All in all I would recommend for one night but if you are going to be in colorado springs for more than a night find somewhere else to go.
