“New Family Tradition”

This was our first visit to state of Colorado and it was awesome! We had made prior reservations at another hotel. When we arrived, the place was nothing like what we had seen on the computer. We stumbled upon this little gem of a place. Everything around the area was full. Being hopeful, they had a vacany, woohoo!! We were so very pleased with the room. Everything was so very very clean! We had a microwave and a mini fridge! Fresh clean towels daily and even extra if we needed for the pool, no charge! The pool is heated and the enviroment was so nice. We slept better than we had in months, it was so quite! I would wake up at 5am with no alarm and sit outside on the porch. On the lawn chairs provided for each room and enjoy the morning mountain air! The staff was watering the plants when the sun came up and everyone was so friendly. The owners were so nice to us, making our first experience to Colorado great! We even made friends with other people staying in the rooms next to us. The enviroment was wonderful during the day and so relaxing at night. They even made our reservations to Pikes Peak... All the sites are close by or a quick drive. We loved staying here so much, we have decided that were going back every summer and making the Mecca our family tradition. We stayed there from 7-24 thru 7-28. I think next summer were staying longer. Thank you for making our fist experience an awesome one! See you next summer!

This is the cleanest motel I have ever stayed in. When you walk in to your room it smells so fresh, none of that stale air you have in most motel rooms. It is nothing fancy, just a good place to stay. It is very centrally located to most attractions. Room had a microwave, refrigerator, and free wi fi . (some area hotels were charging $9 a day for wi fi) I would highly recommend this motel to anyone coming to the area.

The Mecca Motel is a nice hotel and a great bargain. The room was comfortable and had a microwave and fridge in it. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and recommended a nice local place for us to have breakfast. We didn't see any sketchy characters (as another review mentioned) and the owner was friendly when I called to inform him that we might be checking in late. We would definitely stay at the Mecca Motel if we were in town again!

We stayed at Mecca Motel 7/30/2010 - 8/1/2010 - 2 families each with 2 children aged 6 and 9. We very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and looked like they had been updated within the past couple of years. Bathroom was very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Kids loved the pool, especially the tall slide. It is located very close to Manitou Springs and we were able to quickly get to Cave of the Winds, Cliff Dwellings and Cheyenne Mt. Zoo (all we had time for since just one weekend). Other guests were nice and no one was noisy/obnoxious. Very close to Manitou Springs downtown area and Old Colorado City - both lovely places to walk around with some very good restaurants. My 6 year old daughter left her purse (no money but other items a 6 year old can't live without) and it just arrived in the mail without me having to call. They must have found it and put it into box and mailed. That's what I call great service.

We stayed at the Mecca Motel for 5 nights over 4th of July weekend. It's a VERY clean, well-maintained facility. It is nothing fancy, mind you - it does not try to transcend the typical motel mold like the San Ayre down the street. However, it is a VERY GOOD motel. Our room had two queen beds in it and was immaculate, if plain. With four people, it was a little cramped at times The bathrooms are small and the bathroom vanity is TINY. It's about an 18" square - there is really no room to put any toiletries on it. (There is a small medicine cabinet.) The bath stopper wouldn't work, which made it more difficult to bathe my toddler.

The hotel also has a small, but nice, pool with a slide and a hot tub. Again, nothing spectacular, but very clean and well-maintained. The hotel is well-located - very close to Garden of the Gods, old Colorado City, etc. The owners live onsite and clean the rooms - they're very friendly and helpful.

My only real complaints are that the beds are AWFUL - hard and uncomfortable. I could feel the springs at times. I don't usually have a sore back, even when I stay in new places, but I did after my stay here. We REALLY missed our bed. Also, they have free Wi-Fi for guests, but the signal isn't so great. We couldn't use the laptop in our room, we had to crouch over our laptop on one of their patio chairs, with something to shade it from the glare.

We paid $79/night for our stay, which was pretty reasonable. Would I stay there again? Maybe. We later saw hotels like the Embassy Suites which would have charged us $109.00/night (20% off their best rate) if we prepaid for the full stay - $30.00 more and not as close to Garden of the Gods, but when you factor in that those hotels give you more space, nicer beds and a more user-friendly bathroom, Wi-Fi that works in the room, AND include a breakfast buffet, the Mecca loses some of its value.

I would consider staying here again, if I couldn't get a similar deal at a nicer hotel. The main reason to stay here is that it's a low-priced motel that is very clean.

We have stayed at several Manitou motels and this one is a favorite.
Mid-century charm with dedicated owners.

This was the fourth time we stayed here, in the last several years. The rooms have all been remodeled, which was a little disapointing. Yes, the updates were needed. But, it has lost a little of its charm. Still the stay was wonderful! Rooms are clean, and a great location for shopping and restaurants. We will definitely stay at the Mecca again in the future!
