“A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth”
Reviewed 14 April 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Spent a lovely week at the Sanctuary of the Rose this past March and April. With the directions provided, it was truly very easy to locate, and the minute that I stepped inside the Sanctuary, it felt like a calm and cool, refreshing drink of crystal clear water to a very thirsty, and over extended, traveler.

Every day, I took time to appreciate the gift that is this wonderful Guest House. Beautiful, natural furnishings, a warm and cozy sitting room, an adorably, well stocked kitchenette, a very attractive bathroom, and a snugly queen sized bed with fresh linens, ample blankets, pillows, and quilts, all ready to help you drift off to a smiling dreamland every night.

Morning sunshine, birdsong, a welcome outside table and chairs, deer that felt comfortable enough to visit our side yard a few times that week, the contemplative labyrinth, and such a peaceful view of the mountains.

And, I can’t say enough about Ann and Chuck. We were welcomed when we arrived, and they were very thoughtful and hospitable. Ann had taken the time to put together a wonderful notebook listing of local dining venues should one be so inclined, as well as a television channel guide, and a written explanation of how to walk the labyrinth. Even though the Main House was just next door, there is so much privacy, and, yet, they let us know that they were there if we needed them, which was very kind of them.

Whether it’s rain, snow, a blustery day, or one filled with sunshiny blue skies, if you’re looking for a break from your every day, an escape from the stress of daily living, have a book to write, a script to alter, or, maybe, just need some time away to be together, this Sanctuary is well named. It brought me back to the quiet, relaxation, and serenity that I didn’t realize that I’d been missing. Enjoy!

“Beautiful memories!!”
Reviewed 12 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We had planned to begin our trip to Colorado at Sanctuary of the Rose to decompress and relax before moving to a hotel for the remainder of our stay. However, we were so glad we were able to extend our stay, giving us 5 nights total. In hindsight, I'm wondering how we got so lucky to have found a place so wonderful and affordable at the same time.

Ann, the owner, is so friendly and hospitable and it's very evident that she really puts her heart into sharing her sanctuary with others. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary early (before we get too busy with our baby arriving this Summer) and Ann surprised us by leaving sparkling grape juice for us to toast. We had a better idea of what to do when we were there thanks to the abundance of materials/brochures/info she provides, including a binder with restaurant info and menus so you are more likely to enjoy where you end up eating!

The sanctuary is comfortable and provides unmatched peace and privacy! Far better and more affordable than most hotels. All the amenities are accurately described and we had no problems with the house. It exceeded our expectations in many ways! Our hearts were truly refreshed here and we made memories we will always treasure at Sanctuary of the Rose. (I attached a couple pics of deer right in the front yard to the review.)

If you stay here, be prepared that it might be very difficult to leave! My husband and I had to actually have a moment to say goodbye to the Sanctuary before we left for good. It felt like we were leaving a friend. It is possible that I am an extra-sentimental pregnant woman, but I think anyone should try it for themselves and see if they don't also get attached to the Sanctuary of the Rose!

“Peace In the Mountains”
Reviewed 13 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We were booked for 4 nights and stayed an extra night because we didn't want to leave! A wonderful guesthouse with all the amenities you need. Loved it here because it is quiet, peaceful, and private, yet with only a short drive to area attractions. Great hosts -- the area was bracing for a winter storm, and Ann kept me up to date with weather texts on our drive to Colorado. It snowed while we were here, and we were very warm and cozy in the guesthouse. Thanks to Chuck for sweeping the snow off the porch and our car too! We've already recommended Sanctuary of the Rose to our friends and can't wait to return and sample summer here.

“Wonderful accommodation, hospitable hostess, and gorgeous setting!”
Reviewed 30 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

From the moment we arrived, our jangled nerves began to unravel as Ann so graciously welcomed us to her warm and relaxing cottage. She had a real knack for making us feel welcome, helping us navigate our stay but allowing us privacy. The cottage is nestled at the base of Pikes Peak surrounded by trees, deer, and birds but very accessible to Colorado Springs. The cottage was delightful from the comfortable bed and luxurious towels to the artwork and sweet architecture. We arrived tired and distracted, but we departed rested and full of wonderful memories!

“Perfect place to "get away"”
Reviewed 9 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We enjoyed our stay for many reasons. The location was central to all our planned activities, and much, much more. We enjoyed wonderful wine tastings in Canon City (after rafting with Lost Paddle Rafting) brats and craft beer at "Bier Werks", fine dining at " Mucky Duck". After busy days of ballooning, rafting, shopping, cog trip, fishing, sight seeing, the Sanctuary" was a perfect place to kick off the shoes, start the fireplace, enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer , talk about the day's activities, before turning in for the night, snuggling into our dreams in the nice comfy bed. Before saying goodbye, our hosts shared stories, history and the background of the area, all while the local deer enjoyed a morning munch in the front yard, watching us as much as we watched them. Plan to return for another stay and recommend this quiet, quaint guest home to couples looking to "get away".
