A delayed birthday get away for two weary souls.
A charming place with oodles of room and lounging
space, a fireplace that complimented an evening
of chit chat and vegging. The San Ayre is rich with history and
the Third Owners have worked to make this a cozy place with
a friendly atomosphere. It will be a steady destination for us in the future.

San Ayre is a great place for those not looking for resort pampering. We wanted a local and easy in and out place and it exceeded our expectations. We felt the location was perfect for all the outdoor activities we wanted. The owners are really helpful for any recommendations you might need for local activities, dining, etc. Great room, modern design, and comfortable bed. This is the perfect "non-chain" hotel.

Called the innkeeper and we met at the property after driving from Roswell, NM.

Great room - wonderful appointments - unexpected details like glass tiles in the bathroom, beautiful wood doors and a high tech heater.
Beds were comfortable and the whole place is well decorated.

They owners have rescued this 1940's era motel and put some love into it.

Owner gave me a great recommendation for taking pictures at the Garden of the Gods.

The San Ayre is very reasonably priced and is in a great location for visiting Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak.
The accommodation itself is fine, but I somehow felt just a little disappointed. Most of the reviews here are glowing (exceptionally good even), however at the end of the day it is just an upmarket motel.

If you're looking for a very nice room in an incredible location run by friendly, interesting people, check out the Hotel San Ayre. On a quick, one-night trip to the Colorado Springs area, we stayed at the Hotel San Ayre after seeing their web site. The stay was wonderful! As with any booking from a web site, you're not sure how it will turn out...it ended up being a great place. The room was perfectly clean, comfortable and incredibly well decorated. We stay at a number of places and the decor and style of the room rivals some of the best we've seen. Mike and Diana were very friendly, helpful and interesting. It's also a great location for cycling, hiking and running (we did an especially beautiful run through the Garden of the Gods one morning).

My husband, baby and I recently spent one night at the Hotel San Ayre and couldn't have been happier with our accommodation. From the outside, this hotel looks like a blast from the past - very 1950s motor court hotel - but inside it's every bit the new millenium with beautiful decor, lots of character and charm and all of the modern amenities you would find in a 4 star hotel. Because we needed a crib, we thought we would have to stay in the same old chain hotel but were happily surprised to find they have a "pack and play" for the baby to sleep in which was perfect. The owners are young and outdoorsy and clearly love Colorado Springs and want to make sure their guests enjoy everything the area has to offer as well. The hotel is conveniently located just blocks from restaurants, shops and a grocery store and only about 2 miles from the Garden of the Gods. It's really a wonderful hotel and for a comparable price, a refreshing change from chain hotels.

My girlfriend and I were touring through the Rockies and we were looking for small privately owned boutique hotels to say in. I found Hotel San Ayre through google.com as I was looking for hotels close to Pikes Peak Highway and the Garden of The Gods. Their web site was well organized and yet informative. At first I thought that the lack of online room reservations was disappointing but then I realized the reason for it.

When I phoned in to make my reservations, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service that was given to me. After a quick conversation, I received my online confirmation which included the room number that was assigned to us. WOW!

The property is very clean, the rooms are very well decorated and organized for total comfort and enjoyment. The hotels owners even provide a backyard with a fire pit, BBQ grill and everything that is needed for a nice romantic dinner next to the fire pit.

What really stood out was the personal attention that was given to us. The owners knew us by name before we even arrived and had everything set for us. They provided us with maps of the surrounding attractions AND recommended restaurants and cafes.

Originally, I booked a room for only one night, but the experience was so good, that we ended up staying for one extra night. This was not a problem at all, considering that the property is very small.

I strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a great place to spend an intimate vacation and avoid the blandness of chain hotels!
