My husband and I stopped here unexpectedly on the way home from Golden to Texas. We had a great time. They were able to accommodate us at the last minute and were very pleasant. The staff was friendly and informative about the area as for what to do. We stayed in the Independence suite. It was nicely decorated with a fireplace and very large. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to others.

Such a treat! This was my first experience staying at a bed and breakfast. Honestly, these folks set the bar high. The staff was courteous, kind, and exceedingly helpful. The food was amazing and the environment cozy. My fiance especially adored the jar of bottomless cookies. They were ever so sweet enough to share the recipe with us. The Aspen suite was a dream come true and achingly romantic. We couldn't have been more pleased and we intend to return again very soon!

My boyfriend and I went to Holden House for an anniversary getaway weekend. The beautiful Aspen suite,(everyone's favorite in the review and I agree it is) comes with a romantic fireplace, spacious hot tub and grand view of the sky ceiling. We looked forward to having a grand breakfast every morning of an assortment of muffins, orange juice, coffee, fresh fruit with yogurt and a delicious breakfast surprise. Evening wine and cheese was a pleasant addition to the friendly inn keepers who were always helpful and very knowledgeable of all the great places to visit and dine in Colorado Springs. We really enjoyed our stay at Holden House and would definitely come back.

Our room had a huge soaking tub which was delightful. They offer bottomless cookies (which some people in my group took as a personal challenge!) In the evenings they offer wine & snacks. Breakfast was delicious - southwestern frittata, loads of fresh fruit, warm blueberry muffins.

I recently had the pleasure of returning to and staying at Holden House Bed and Breakfast. As in the past, my stay was highlighted by highly personable and professional staff, expertly prepared and presented food, and a delightful and spacious suite (Cripple Creek). To further make the visit special, the three houses which comprise Holden House were decorated for the holidays. From the nutcracker display above the fireplace in the main house to literally hundreds of lights outside, Holden House never ceases to provide both a sense of beauty and a feeling of home. That, coupled with the owners' commitment to provide the ultimate guest experience, makes Holden House a true delight. I hope to make a return visit in 2013 in the spring. Although the holiday lights and decorations will be gone, the spirit of hospitality and comfort will remain.

Room Tip: Pike's Peak Avenue is a reasonably quiet street, so noise is not a problem in any of the rooms...

We were sorry to read the review of the couple that did not enjoy their stay at the Holden House. We have stayed there at least a dozen times or more over the past 20 years and have always found the Innkeepers to be nothing short of accomodating, attentive and professional. There is nothing creepy at all about the house; from the antique furniture to the historical family photos, everything is expertly appointed. We enjoy the many ammenities including the ambiance which is a step back into past times when things were slower and the breakfast times add to the relaxed morning schedule that we seek ( as we are busy professionals that often don't move slow in the morning). We hope you'll stay at the Holden House if you are looking for a romantic retreat. It's nurtured our marriage for many years.

Room Tip: we love the upstairs rooms in the main house.

We loved the food, the friendliness of the innkeepers and the bottomless cookie jar.

The decor was a little creepy with all the old family pictures and the artwork.

As much as we enjoyed our breakfasts, we definitely won't be back. We weren't pleased that we made our reservations for the Thanksgiving weekend in mid-October and paid our deposit, only to find out that a Thanksgiving special was on the Holden House site a week later! We could have saved at least $100 for our 3-night stay. The owner told us, through the innkeeper, that we would get no money back. The really disappointing part is that the owner had spoken to me on the phone shortly after I made the reservations and didn't bother to mention an upcoming deal. They want you to feel like you're "at home" but that sure didn't make us feel valued.

We are also early risers and weren't too crazy about having to wait until 8 to have breakfast. One morning we changed our time from 9 to 8 and it seemed that we were inconveniencing them. :(

Unfortunately, being treated like a number isn't exclusive to hotels.

We appreciate feedback from all of our guests and through over 26 years of B&B hospitality, it's nice that folks provide comments to us. As it relates to this particular comment, our website specials are clearly stated any discounts must be mentioned at the time of booking and certain cancellation and deposit policies also apply to any packages and offers. While I cannot identify the guest, it's clear that the guest did not mention any discount when the booking was made and was then disappointed when we wouldn't apply the discount retroactively. As to the historic photos on the stairwell, our property is advertised as a beautifully appointed Victorian with antiques, family heirlooms and yes, historic photos of both of our families lining the entry stairwell and a photo of the original owner, Isabel Holden, who built the home in 1902. While this guest may not have been impressed with the historical nature of the inn or the long history associated with our decor, we have great pride in our bed and breakfast Inn, including the atmosphere of antiques and family heirlooms and the home's heritage in the Pikes Peak Region.
