“Great B & B”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Old Town Guesthouse was great for an over -nighter. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We walked to all the shops and restaurants. Don gave us a good idea for dinner. We had a delicious breakfast and stayed to check-in online for our return flight home.
The chocolate coins were a nice touch and surprise.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail - it's the little things that count: Fair & Accurate recommendations, Early Coffee, extended access to the premises, guest computer, WIFI and TV's are just a few things folks like to see (and don't like to ask about). We're glad we were on top of our game with these folks. We can't wait for their return visit.

Old Town Guesthouse was a great place to stay. The b&b was great with great breakfasts, happy hour and lots of things to do within walking (and running) distance. We stayed there without a car and either walked to eat or took the bus into town to a movie , even ran to the garden of the gods. A great place to stay for any occasion.

We don't get many folks without a car so we remember these folks. They was here for the Pikes Peak Marathon so the running comment is no surprise. We're sorry about the sleep quality rating, we love our water beds (and so do most of our guests) but no sleep system is perfect for everyone. (If there was a specific problem we'd love to hear about it so we can effect a solution.)
We look forward to seeing these folks back again.

What a pleasant experience. The entire staff was informative and very gracious. We were even provided a nice breakfast to take on the road as we had an early departure. I am an innkeeper myself and would highly recommend this lovely boutique B&B! The owners know how to provide everything needed for a warm and comfortable visit.

I can't say how nice it is to hear great complements from a fellow Innkeeper. We haven't enjoyed their hospitality but I'm sure they are every bit as welcoming as we try to be. It's the details, the little things that people remember and we're happy you took a memory or two away with you. (Hope all was well back at your Inn - we're always a bit nervous when we leave ours in someone else's care.)

My husband and I booked the Victorian Rose room for our first anniversary. The room is beautiful! Out of the rooms that were left open for a quick view, ours was by far my favorite. Off street parking, friendly staff, library full of books and movies to borrow, as well as menus for all the local restaurants are just a few perks. Our balcony had the perfect view of Pikes Peak as well as the tallest peaks in Garden of the Gods. The hot tub was wonderfully relaxing and clean. The water bed was strange at first, but it didn't take me long to realize it was one of the comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. The 3 course breakfast was outstanding. We were served a fruit plate, a fancy glass of cranberry-orange juice, a delicious and warm date granola bar, a Scotch egg and side of cheesy hash browns. It was wonderful food served by Don himself! He also gave us sightseeing tips for the rest of our short stay in CO Springs. We were only at the OTGH for one night, and I can't wait to stay again hopefully next year!

What a nice recap of your stay. Personal service is what we do best and why Shirley and I still enjoy doing this after 8 years. Of course, having such wonderful guests makes that even easier. We hope you'll return to our Inn and, perhaps, stay a couple of days to take in all that the area has to offer.

My husband and I booked a night in the Victorian Rose room and we couldn't be more pleased with our stay. Don and Shirley were terrific and breakfast was incredible. We hope to make it back again! Maybe next year for our 6th anniversary!

Thanks for the great review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you here again for an anniversary (or how about a birthday). We're sorry you thought the value wasn't the best, I hope you took advantage of the wine hour, early morning (or in-room) coffee and, of course, breakfast. If there's something more we can do (check our web site for specials and discounts) we'd be happy to give your ideas some thought.

Thank you so much for our stay. I've never stayed in a B&B before this, but I will definitely do it again. We stayed in the African themed room and it was fantastic. We had our own personal hot tub, view of the mountains, and is was so quiet. I had such a fun and relaxing time! Don and Shirley are so nice. The food was excellent! Thank you!

Happy Birthday one last time! We hope we have made loyal B&B stayers out of you and, of course, we hope that we'll be on the top of your list the next time you need to get away. The up side of B&B stays is that we're all different - it's also the down side. Check out inns that are inspected (State B&B assn. usually do, so does AAA and Select Registry) and read their Tripadvisor reviews (all of them - nobody's perfect but some don't ever get it right) - and then come back here any way, how does that sound?
Hope to see you back again for the next B'Day or Anniversary or whatever.

We stumbled across this Inn when our other option wasn't available. We are so glad we went with the OTGH instead! There's no way another hotel could have competed.

JUST THE FACTS JACK:
PROS:
1. They have a Happy Hour! Wine and beer and light snack served from 4-6PM which 3 guests took advantage of the night we were there.
2. This is not a tacky, flowery, lacy decorated B&B of the past. In fact, we felt as if we were in a small hotel. It only has 8 rooms and the feeling was of complete privacy. We never heard a peep. Keep your eyes open and you will see bits of tongue in cheek humor in the decorating.
3. There is a ceiling fan or the fan of the AC/Heat if you like white noise in the background.
4. The pièce de résistance is the private balcony with the hot tub for two complete with robes. There's even an awning so when it rained we were cozy. We had a view of Norad mountaing and Pikes Peak. Amazing!
5. The African Violet room is big! The bathroom is crazy huge! I could put all my girly stuff all over the counter and my hubby could still easily maneuver. We also peaked in to the Oriental room which wasn't that overdone red silk Asian look. Very classy.
6. It's clean, clean, clean.
7. Three course breakfast was divine.
8. Walking distance to many restaurants.
9. The bed, a tube filled water mattress, was the most comfortable thing I'd ever slept on. This is not a sloshy water bed of the past era. So, so comfortable that only the amazing breakfast could have enticed me to leave.
CONS:
1. The game room, with a pool table, in the basement needs some attention. It looks like not a lot of guests use it and other items are propped against walls with a lot of electrical cords everywhere.

With 9 pros and a wimpy 1 con I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: The African Violet is the best room. Other rooms are great too with private hot tubs. Just a little...

Great review! I loved the Pro & Con idea. While we stive for perfection everywhere, there's always something that needs a bit of attention. We'll give the game/exercise room a chunk of our attention when the season winds down a bit - in a month or so. You are correct about no one using the area much but which acme first lack of use or lack of attention on our part - we'll take the heat on that one.
Hope to see you back here again.
