Old Town Guesthouse B&B
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 17 July 2014

We have just spent a week with Kim and Dave at the Old Town Guesthouse in Old Colorado Springs. Not only was the location the best, the accommodations, breakfasts, and service was just outstanding!!! It seems that everyone that was staying at the same time was just in the most wonderful state of mind, and this had to be because of the above.
We will definitely be back and will be recommending to all of our friends.

Room Tip: The rooms with the private hot tubs may cost a little more, but they are worth it!!!

The research for a good place to stay in Colorado Springs payed off with near-perfect results at the Old Town Guest House. We thoroughly enjoyed the new owners, Kim and Dave Wolinski, who prepared superb nutritious breakfasts each morning for the guests. Our second floor room was very comfortable and nearby the refreshments (and thoughtful emergency supplies) station. The balcony afforded a great view of Pike's Peak. Overall, Old Town Guest House is spacious and attractive. My only complaint would be with the in-room TV, which was really too small for viewing from the bed and not accessible for other areas of the room. Fortunately, there are so many sights to visit and nearby restaurants to sample that is a minimal concern. An added bonus is the town's local ice cream parlor just up the street.

As if the location of this charming property wasn't enough - the hospitality and service were really over the top. From the cold refreshments and comfy sitting room to the basket of stuffed "friends" on every floor, this place has it ALL. I can't wait for another excuse to stay-over!

Three days of real pleasure. Dave & Kim mean business. My wife and I stayed 3 days. The location is just excellent for walking and driving all the local attractions. The rooms good size , well equipped, breakfast as you expect , wonderful happy hour in the library room and the view of Pike's Peak just great. Always there to serve thier customers. See ya, again.

Room Tip: All 8 rooms are a good choice

I chose OTGH based on the good reviews in TripAdvisor and its proximity to restaurants and tourist attractions. Turned out to be a great choice. We booked three nights in the 3rd floor African Orchid room (spacious & airy, with great views of Pike’s Peak) and ended up staying a third because there were so many things to do in Colorado Springs and the accommodations were so convenient and homey. When I called to make the reservation, I learned that Dave and Kim had become the new owners just that day. When I asked questions about attractions that they had not yet visited, they didn’t hesitate to put me in touch with the prior owner. Both Kim and Dave were friendly and accommodating from the first moment (no problem that we would be arriving at 10:30 at night), catering to our food preferences and surprising us with discounts for some of the attractions we intended to see. Breakfast was lavish in a bright & sunny breakfast room where you could sit at a table alone or with a spouse, but easily chat with the other guests and share travel tips. A second floor pantry offered residents 24-hour water, coffee, tea, ice and thoughtfully-labelled boxes containing all sorts of items a traveler might forget at home. Comfortable, convenient and extremely friendly – I’d recommend OTGH to anyone visiting the area.

The Old Town Guest House recently changed owners, and they've not skipped a beat! Great service, great breakfasts, and wonderful rooms. And in one of the best parts of Colorado Springs! And also great touch with a daily 4-6pm happy hour!

My wife and I chose OTGH based on its ranking in TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. The B&B is under new management, but Dave and Kim are doing a great job in their first week.

The room: We selected the Indian Paint Brush room, which is really a suite. There are two water beds (one queen and one twin). The view from the deck/hot tub is really nice. We had a good bit of cloud cover during our stay, but on the morning of our departure the clouds lifted and we saw the snow-covered Pike's Peak. The bathroom features two sinks, a nice shower and the fridge. There were two water bottles, two wine glasses, and two coffee mugs. There is a gas fireplace which we did not need in early June. Our only criticism of the room, and it's a minor detail, is that the flat screen television was tiny. Really tiny. But we weren't there to watch television so it wasn't a big deal. The suite was very clean. There were no mystery stains. There were no drips, creaks or other annoying noises. We're not sure if there were guests in the room next door, but if there were, we didn't hear them.

The location: The OTGH is great in a great location. It's really easy to get to and there is ample parking. We had a GPS in the rental, but would have no problems finding the place if we had to follow written directions. The OTGH is just a few steps away from the "main drag" of the Old Colorado City. So there are a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars just a few minutes away. And it's easy to get on Rt 24 to travel to nearby sites.

The staff: At the time of our stay, Dave and Kim had owned the place for about 8 days. So while they felt they were still learning the ropes, we didn't notice any issues. The breakfasts were delicious both mornings. We attended the beer/wine hour on the second day and it was nice to chat for a while with Dave and Kim and the other guests.

Room Tip: Indian Paint Brush is our only experience, but the suite had plenty of room, a great view, and we hi...
