Description: A busy family-run village pub with a good reputation for its food. It has a bar with real fire, lounge, and large restaurant at the rear. The village has a series of walks through beautiful countryside with wildlife and the remains of Bishop Middleham Castle.

Went here the other week at a last minute called ahead and advised that we may have to eat in the bar area. On arriving we were placed in the main restaurant. There is a full menu available on the black board as well as the carvery. The car very have offers of beef pork chicken and vegetarian option all at a very good price and the quality was excellent.

Would defiantly attend and recommend eating here.

Over the Easter weekend we booked a weekend away to Bishop Middleham. The place itself is lovely, however upon visiting the local pub the Cross Keys we were bitterly dissaponted.
The staff are rude, they don't use manners and throughout our visit we felt like we shouldn't have been there.
In the middle of serving us the bar lady turned her back and started speaking with someone else and then proceeded to serve someone else, returning to us several minutes later without an apology .
We had children with us and it was early afternoon, however it appears acceptable for the bar staff and residents to swear.
I would avoid this place like the plague. Terrible customer service and very rude staff.

Last minute decision to go out for lunch on Saturday. Went to the Cross Keys for a few beers and food. The food was lovely, especially the chips. Nice bar with friendly staff.

Recommended by our friends who live local and encouraged by the 2 for £9 deal rumoured to have good portions.
We decided to pop long. Getting a table was no problem. Located next to the wood burner it was the perfect setting.
Pint of a local bitter on handpull just added to how perfect this place is..

We ordered our food which came in no time. Which was not only a good portion but lovely too. We are back tomorrow for a mothers day celebration.
Can't wait..
