Antlers Rio Grande Lodge

We stayed in the motel section of the Antlers Lodge. The view and the setting was wonderful. The room was a little tight on space, but you want to spend more time in your porch swing than the room. We enjoyed watching the deer across the river and also some baby ducks on the river. Just a short 5 minute drive into town.

Room Tip: Although the setting is quiet and peaceful, take a noisemaker or a fan in case you have loud neighbo...

We didn't stay at the lodge; however, we did have the most incredible dinner there! Sitting outside enjoying the river while sipping on wine, sampling a soup, crab claws, entrees of filet and rack of lamb, topping it off sharing a dessert with my husband made for a VERY special evening. It is absolutely worth the final tab!! Treat yourself; you won't be disappointed.

We were on a sketching and painting art trip and were delighted with the Lodge, our room looked right into the Rio Grande River! The views were spectacular and our room was a rustic, but adequate room. The food at the restaurant was superb, but a little pricey. It was only open for dinner so breakfast was a trip back into Creede. There was an event going on in town with artists, vendors, etc. which we enjoyed, but so did the staff and our room was not refreshed. No big deal, but not what we expected for the price.

We (2 couples) spent 5 days in rooms right on The Rio Grande, sleeping to the sound of the river. Dinner at the restaurant was superb - perfectly cooked steaks: the trout was excellent and so were the martinis. There was a great golf course not far away. We'll be back next year, but for longer than 5 days.

This property is a classic old style mountain resort on the banks of the beautiful Rio Grande. It is also full of contrasts. Our two bedroom log cabin sat right on the banks of the river and it was mesmerizing when sitting on the porch swing. The cabin was very clean with traditional mountain furniture, some being new and some used. The bedrooms were quite small for the very comfortable queen log beds adorned with new western quilts, sheets and pillows along with carpeting. Getting in the bed was always a chore because of the room's narrowness and the light bulb was out in the lamp on a small nightstand. The small bathroom had a new glass shower stall and it was clean but the room lacked much storage for doc kits and clothes for changing. The kitchen had a nice refrigerator and coffee pot and was stocked with paper towels, new sponge, dish soap and matches. Unfortunately it was very small and the oven required manual lighting even though other burners functioned well. The plates and utensils were fine as were the pots and pans. The main room also had two comfortable log chairs, but an old fold out and uncomfortable sofa.
Unfortunately there was no television or radio and the advertised wi-fi was nonexistent at our cabin. However, at the main lodge there was a beautiful game room with acceptable internet connections, a large flat screen television, pool table, library and chess table setup. Then again, it also closed around 8:00.
Finally, we cooked on the outside grill. Our cabin did not have one so we had to use one two cabins down and it was an old converted gas grill for charcoal.
The river was right out our door and there was good access for fishing....and the fishing was really good for brown and rainbow trout. There also was really good fishing throughout the rest of the region and the scenery/vistas are spectacular. Be advised, however, the area has seen recent fires and the spruce beetle has devastated some mountainsides.
In summary this was classic mountain lodging in that it seemed pricey for what was offered, spectacular for the location and some amenities, and lacking in some aspects of the property.

Room Tip: Be aware the property has multiple offerings with a trailer park, motel rooms on the river, cabins o...

Old Colorado ranch-style lodging on the Rio Grande River, 5 miles outside Creede. Restaurant doesn't operate on Mondays and only open for dinner the rest of the week. Rather pricey, few amenities other than being on the river. When I was there, a sign was posted for flash flood watch because of forest fire burn scar. The office closed at 8p so a sign was posted for maintenance man after hours. Not very comforting if there was a flood in the middle of the night - it didn't seem as though there was anyone around to notify you and no phone to the office in the rooms.
