Description: We are known as having the highest quality fish in town. Our fish is flown in 6 days a week within 24 hours from the docks. We offer a nightly happy hour every night at the bar from 5:30-6:30. In the summer we have a beautiful patio with heaters...and soon a fire pit table! We are a casual restaurant with a warm friendly charm, just like our town of Crested Butte. Private parties available and reservations are recommended but not needed.

I'm not sure where the idea of having a restuarant that served lamb chops on the one hand and sushi on the other came from but it is generally difficult to serve two masters in any walk of life. Perhaps the sushi idea came from the fact they are the only game in town and there is a certain crowd which will search it out (there used to be another sushi restaurant but it disappeared when the Secret Stash took over the building a year or so ago). Having eaten sushi from Osaka to Hawaii to most major cities in the US, especially the west coast, I would call it average at best and painfully way overpriced - I mean $9 for two pieces of maguro - it should cost half of that in any good sushi restaurant on the west coast or major city - and the pieces are not exactly generous... so if you have just won the lottery (and you love sushi that much...) or would like a lesson in 'supply & demand', go for it. The other 'master' however, does well in serving excellent food at decent prices - the Colorado lamb chops were excellent on our last visit as are many other items on the menu... which is why it gets four stars, not because they offer overpriced, mediocre sushi and rolls, which would make it a one star (only because zero is not an option in this rating system).

Our party of five had dinner here after a satisfying day outdoors around Crested Butte. Four sushi eaters and myself. I had the short rib on squash puree with Brussels sprouts. Tender and very tasty. The sushi was reportedly fresh and well-prepared with innovative choices. Service was very friendly if a bit slow on this busy evening.

The food at Lil's is always delicious. The value is good especially at happy hour. This is a favorite for us! And they don't just have sushi, they have a pretty large menu for those that don't like sushi. I would definitely recommend Lil's!

...but don't expect the quality you get in a metropolitan sushi bar. There is good creativity and the fish seemed fresh, but something is missing to make this downright good sushi.

Don't be mistaken - if you have a hankering for some sushi while in CB, this will satisfy, but its just not up to par with what you'd get at home.

There are kitchen prepared dishes as well, pretty pricey, but the menu looked good.

Service was 'on' for us and the kids enjoyed all the rolls they ordered.

The restaurant is tucked back in a corner and has a nice ambience. We sat at the bar and the service was fine. The rolls are expensive and have more rice than I like. The edamame were very good. I had a glass of wine (very small servings) and my husband had a beer. The bill was $72.00 which is pretty high considering what we got.
