“What a delight!”

Quiet, secluded (yet just minutes from Crested Butte), historic cabins. Located far enough from each other to afford privacy. Cozy and cute with flower boxes at the windows and hummingbirds at the feeders. The river, with your own fire pit and chairs by the river. Cabin is well appointed and very clean, and nicely decorated. And, we could have our dog with us! What a wonderful find!

This summer was our second time to stay at Pioneer Guest Cabins. We love the sound of the Cement Creek flowing right by the cabin, the hummingbirds arguing for a seat at the feeder, and the cleanliness of the property (inside and out). There are a few nice hiking trails nearby, and the drive into Crested Butte is short (10 minutes?). There is no wifi in the cabins, but the office is always open for this purpose. Also, there is no cell service for AT&T customers. We found this to be a blessing! Although all the cabins (which are not particularly close to one another) were full, we never heard anyone. The speed limit is 5 mph, which makes walking along the main entrance safe for children, dogs, bikes, etc. Primarily, the people staying tend to be families and couples who are there for the hiking, fishing, rafting, etc. that Crested Butte and Gunnison have to offer.

Room Tip: All cabins have a beautiful view.

This was our first time staying at Pioneer Guest Cabins. We loved being out in the wilderness and enjoyed all the hiking trails close by. We were within 10-15 minutes of Crested Butte and Gunnison, and had the opportunity to go white water rafting at Three Rivers and then fishing with the kids at the hatchery. The cabin was clean and in great shape. It was a little tight with 6 people, but 4 would have been just fine. The back yard fire pit and propane grill were perfect! Plus we were able to bring our two dogs!!

We will definitely recommend staying there and will plan to do so again next year.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cottonwood Cabin, which is the last cabin in the loop. Great choice as it sits abo...

I stayed at the Pioneer Guest Cabins in June with my husband and two children aged 11 and 14. This is, without a doubt, one of the best places we have ever stayed. The cabins are very comfortable and the interiors are decorated with loads of character. We loved relaxing next to the river right across from our cabin - reading during the day and roasting marshmallows at night. The owners are very sweet and helpful and recommended some beautiful hikes which were accessible by foot right from our cabin door. June was a great time to go as it wasn't very crowded in the area, the wild flowers were amazing and the rivers were high which made for some great river rafting. We also fell in love with Crested Butte which was just a short drive away. We would cook breakfast at the cabin, pack a picnic for lunch and eat dinner at one of the awesome restaurants we discovered in town. The Secret Stash Restaurant was one of our favorites! You should definitely stay at Pioneer Guest Cabins - what a great vacation!!

Very quiet & very scenic! The cabins are located along a beautiful rushing river. We stayed in Cottonwood. Although it was small for our family, it was exactly what one envisions when thinking of a cozy cabin by a river! Pioneer has a wonderful history which we discovered by chance in a drawer one evening when coming across a booklet. Look for it and take the time to read it! Then, look for the old parts of the Pioneer ski lift on the property and hike up to the warming hut. We spent two mornings hiking in our immediate area - one day up to "the cave" and the next day the "warming hut." (maps at the front office, but be careful doing the warming hut trail. It's easy to get off the trail in several places as animals, deer maybe?, have created their own trails off the main one) Might be time to put up some arrow signs for us first-timers! We had also ordered a book before our trip called: Crested Butte Colorado: 65 Scenic Day Hikes. We selected several more hikes from it that we would have never known about otherwise - highly recommend grabbing one! Another hint: no laundry facility on site but we found one in town at a the local hostel (quarters only but they also have a change machine). It was nice, so we parked there & did our laundry while strolling around the town several times. Great restaurants in Crested Butte but we did those for lunch. For dinner, sitting around our own fire pit in the evening and grilling as the sun sets was much more appealing for our crew. The views are amazing!

Room Tip: Cottonwood is one of two cabins perched above the other 6. It felt much more private to us because o...

Randomly searched online for a cabin off the beaten path, quaint and private! WOW - this cabin exceeded our expectations. The river so close was fantastic, picnic area with fire pit all your own, hummingbirds everywhere, adorable cabin with very comfortable beds.
Loved every part of it and hope to be back.

This cabin may be the cutest thing my husband and I have ever stayed in. Period. Situated minutes from our favorite mountain town of Crested Butte, surrounded by green valleys filled with wild flowers, winding streams, snow-patched peaks, and friendly neighbors. The cabins are historic and beyond adorable- also easily accessed on a well-maintained dirt road. Despite the easy access, they feel tucked away/ off the beaten path. They are tiny. There are enough beds to sleep several people, but I wouldn't recommend more than three. It's perfect for couples and small families. We also had our dog with us. This sounds weird, but their towels are amazing. SO soft. I brought a baby towel for my seven-month-old son and threw it back in the car, these towels were that soft. Complete with fire ring, comfy/deep wooden lounge chairs, hammock, grill, and wood-chopping ax, our yard was perfect. We put on our flannel and chopped some wood- first time for me and I think I got it OK. The beds were very soft, complete with soft plaid comforters. The wood-burning stove was wonderful at night. I usually don't care much about decor when it comes to cabins, but I must say they did a great job. Antlers, antique skis, old camping/advertisement posters, black iron hardware and wood everywhere. It was like staying in a gingerbread house, in the cutest part of the world ever. One thing that makes it tough to stay here is (I think) there is a minimum-stay policy. That's tough on the long road trips my husband and I take, where we can only stay in each place for a couple of nights. We lucked out and booked during an in-between-season time. But I wish I could stay there a whole week! We will be back, I'm sure!
