Great accommodations in heart of ski area. Access to town via the shuttle is a nice plus! The chairlift ride up and hike to the top of crested butte mtn. is spectacular. The fly fishing nearby was also great! We really enjoyed everything they had to offer and could have spent more time there.
We will definitely go back and bring friends to also share in this treat of a Rocky mountain High vacation.
WE actually were put on first floor by check in desk and I did not like this location etc... We were abel to change our room for a very small fee and it was worth it!

Room Tip: don't stay on the first floor by the check in desk.

This was our 20th year wedding anniversary trip with our two dogs. First, they put us in the wrong room (not the pet friendly ones). So, we had to be moved. We were then put in a segregated area next to the check in desk on the first floor. Every part of the day and night as long as there were guests checking in, we could hear every single conversation and laughter. Every night, I had to wake up from my sleep to shut the hall way door so that the noise could be buffered by the doors. But, that did not help much as someone would somehow reopen them and kept them opened. The doors to these particular rooms would shut so loud that the walls would shake. I asked to be moved to another area where it is not next to the check in desk and where the doors did not make a thundering bang when it shut. Although the manager tried to find me another room, we were stuck quarantined in this part of the hotel that was away from the main guest rooms/area because we had pets. They locked the door latch to the hallway so that it would not shut as loud, but there was nothing to be done with the doors to the guest rooms that were just as loud if not worse because the doors would shut more frequently as guests go in and out of their rooms. The five nights that we were there to celebrate what was a major milestone in our lives, turned out to be the worse vacation we ever took in the 20 years together. We stayed most of the time in our rooms with our dogs and ordered food to go or cooked something from the kitchenette. We would take our dogs out to town and take a nap in our car just so that we could get in a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Crested Butte is a beautiful town and we would definitely go back to Crested Butte again, but we will never stay at the Grand Lodge ever...

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, do not stay here.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to write a review. I am sorry the location of the room did not meet your needs. All of our units are privately owned, and we have offered owners on the first floor the opportunity to make their units pet friendly. We chose the first floor for ease of taking dogs outside. Recently, we have offered this option to owners on the 2nd floor as well to increase the number of pet-friendly units due to their popularity. Out of 226 rooms, the Grand Lodge now has 34 pet friendly units, with the majority on the first floor and a few on the second floor. It seems you were here over the 4th of July holiday, and the hotel was entirely sold out for the holiday weekend, so I am sorry we could not accommodate a room move for you to a different location. We hope that you will visit us in the future, and that we can accommodate a different room location for you that will better suit your needs. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything further I can do for you.

Kind regards,

Sarah Burke

From the minute we walked in the front door, we were treated like V.I.P.s. Every single person we met was eager to help us in any way possible. Our room had two king-sized beds (one Murphy bed) with identical mattress and bedding -- super super comfortable! We were a little dismayed at first to find out that there was no air conditioning, but found that things cooled rapidly at night and the ceiling fan and open window kept us quite comfortable. (The only downside to this was the noise from the parking lot below, where people were yelling to each other). The "kitchenette" was really lovely and well-equipped -- one burner cooktop, sink, small dishwasher, microwave, all in perfect condition. Room was spotless. We took advantage of the complimentary lift ticket to go up the mountain on the Silver Queen and were treated to fabulous views. Lots to do for families, and a great vacation destination for all who love outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, swimming, etc.

We were on the first floor by the door and folks coming in late at night are very loud and the dogs in the room next door woke us up every day around 5:30 am. We have stayed here before several times and had no complaints but our experience in this particular room was not good.

Room Tip: Stay away from dog rooms and rooms that are on the first floor near the doorway.

The hotel is nice and the rooms are large, but in the summer it's very hot to try to sleep. We couldn't get the ceiling fans to go in a faster speed, so not much air circulation. The room was clean and large and fairly well stocked.
The service at the check in desk was very poor. The two young ladies were very "curt" and not professional at all. I would say they did not make us feel welcomed in the least. They were most definitely not well versed in customer service.
The location is great, right by the plaza area of the mountain.
