The Ruby of Crested Butte - A Luxury B&B

Reviewed 11 June 2012

We spent a night at The Ruby of Crested Butte in the beginning of June and had a wonderful time. Chris and Andrea have done a great job creating the perfect B&B. There was a wonderful balance of socializing, relaxation, and attention to detail - truly impressive amount of thoughtfulness. Our stay began with an outdoor dog wash, followed by surprise craft beer and massage pairing, a dip in the hot tub, and a tandem bike ride into town for dinner. Chris and Andrea supply everything from cookies/dog treats when you walk in - to a beautifully prepared breakfast made with fresh local ingredients when you wake up. If the scenery isn't enough to make you want to plan a trip to Crested Butte, staying at The Ruby and meeting Chris and Andrea will be!

This was the second time we have stayed at the Ruby and have never been disappointed. Chris and Andrea make you feel right at home. Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast delicious, and our two dogs love it ( especially the relaxing backyard and treats). They think of everything here, especially the guest. The night of my birthday, we came home to find a delicious little cake, just for us, sitting thier with a birthday note. I felt very special. We have never stayed here during the winter, but plan to come back for a quick ski getaway this winter. Whenever I have friends or family heading to Crested Butte, I send them to the Ruby first.

I challenge any peace-seeking individuals to find a more luxurious yet welcoming, romantic, better-thought-out B&B in the state of Colorado. This place exudes positive energy and attention to detail like no other I've experienced.

Here's a peek:
•Complimentary fresh cookies, fruits and nuts in the hallway.
•Complimentary beer and wine located in/near an old (1950s?) Coca-Cola Frigidaire.
•Games, films, small library.
•Great aesthetics, very retro-chic, French.
•World-class breakfast (excellent use of goat cheese, my favorite)
•Well-maintained hottub
•Complimentary Schwinn Bikes
•The owners are a wealth of local knowledge.
•Great value.

Pups are also welcome! It just so happens that the complimentary beer and wine really speak to me. I'm in the middle of my second stay here at The Ruby and I have no desire to leave this bedroom, this B&B, this town. Thanks Chris and Andrea for having this vision! ...as a side note, same sex couples looking for a comfortable getaway in Crested Butte can end the search here. Trust us!

Spent two nights this past weekend at The Ruby. The rooms were nice but the extras were incredible. Fresh baked cookies, fruit and nuts available as you walked in. Two great rooms to sit and read. Water, coffee/tea and soft drinks available at all times. Convenient to walk into "downtown" Crested Butte or free bikes to use if you wanted to cruise around town. The innkeepers Andrea and Chris were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were over the top incredible. Fruit parfaits, Dutch apple pancakes, eggs and home made cinnamon rolls were all part of the first breakfast along with cappuccino's if you so desired. Yet, you were not in a food coma. Incredible B&B. Highly recommend if staying in CB. We actually were attending graduation at Western State and only about a 30 minute ride so convenient to Gunnison and Western as well. Had such an enjoyable weekend at the Ruby. Will be back.

This was our first stay at The Ruby and we can't wait to go back! We got married at the top of a mountain in waist deep snow then we spent two nights at The Ruby as part of our mini honeymoon. Chris, Andrea and the rest of the staff went out of their way to treat us like members of the family. The room and amenities were perfect. Bring your appetities for a delicious breakfast and a sense of adventure for exploring Crested Butte. Thanks again for making our stay super memorable. We will see you soon.

Everything was superb! The highlight for my wife and I was the complimentary bicycles that The Ruby let us use to ride all over this awesome mountain town. Even after we had checked out, we came back later and asked if we could take them for a spin again. Of course these gracious hosts were happy to let us. We loved the easy atmosphere of the inn, the great breakfast, and all the little extra "touches". We have been at great B&B's all over Colorado and we both agreed that this one is one of the best. Hands down, we will be back.

I could turn this into a long-winded review, extolling the virtues of owners Chris and Andrea and their innkeeper Cassie. I would mention the roses, chocolate-dipped strawberries and personal anniversary wishes in our room. The wine, cookies.... The fabulous room. What anyone shopping for a B&B stay within a hundred miles of Crested Butte should hear about is the two hours Chris and Cassie spent chatting with us at breakfast. Far from "bending our ears" while we tried to eat, the conversation was engaging, far-flung and totally delightful. Each, in their own way, made us feel we were dining with friends as opposed to eduring necessary small talk before we went on with our separate lives. In a place where all of the little things were done well, they got the biggest thing of all perfectly - they made us feel welcome.
